Personally I'm not seeing that much of a difference between a higher handling or lower.
Nevertheless, I found the AK12 to have a higher rate of fire in tests rather than just looking at weapon stats (basically, I try weapons shooting a shed from 50 yards both static and on the move and see how they feel and compare) but the HK416 is certainly up in the top three, which is why I can run with the short barrel and still be effective.
Using the short barrel HK416 reduces stopping power a bit, albeit the lighter "feel" has an authentic balance to it (playing with keyboard & mouse) when using 30-round magazine, rangefinder, and Comp M4 scope.
Of course, weight and feel are perhaps an immersion roleplay thing, as adding things like drum magazines in the game don't make a difference because you can't feel how they change the weapon - no jams, no damage, no tired arms with the extra weight, the insane amount of ammunition you can carry etc etc.
It's just a game and people play how they like. I'm glad there are the options for us to play according to what we want instead of being railroaded down the one "correct" way of playing.
