combat logging out of ghost mode

so i know if i'm being spotted in a middle of a camp, and i know that i'm going to be seen, i can just quit to main menu before i'm spotted and nothing bad happens.

but i had someone tell me recently that if you quit while hunted or engaged this also counts as a "death" i thought combat logging only counted as a death if you quite while you were downed.

which one is true?

Downed and bleeding out.

If you are not downed and bleeding out just hit escape and then close the game.

With the game being buggy and glitched with some stuff I recommend backing up your save game files.
