If you talking about Season pass DLC missions, then no.
Any other small DLC like weapons, outfits, then yes.
Because that totally didn't work in literally every single game that's ever done that before, right?
I know Payday 2 did it, I thought it worked nicely. I've now just got to convince 3 people to buy it..
Yes..Correct.
But thanks for reiterating it.
Gee seems to work just fine for Europa Universalis, and Crusader Kings..since friends trying it an likeing those features/content to buy it for themselves.
Those are completey different playstyle games than wildlands and that is what i am talking about here..wildlands.. not other games..
My entire point is there would be no reason for anyone to buy DLC since all you need is a friend that has it. There would be no "friends trying it and liking it so they buy it for themselves" would be no reason as long as you have a buddy who already has everything. UBI would lose money on sales with that idea and UBI is all about money. But hey if you wanna prove a point. I'll let you beg UBI for free campaign DLC. See where it gets you.
except "that friend buying it" for al ltheir other friends would still be a reason for people to buy it. which would gradually expand as people wanted to buy it to play with more of their other friends without needing their friend to play .
Alot less of a reason than everyone needing to buy it though. You either fail to see that or refuse to just to keep arguing. Sure. people would buy it to carry their friends. The point is those friends wouldn't buy it. Overall. Alot less would buy. it would gradually expand. but still less than if everyone had to buy. I know i wouldn't spend a dime if i knew my buddy could give me the content for free. I hope you are not trying to convince me that making content free would increase sales of that content.
That's like me giving you the choice between free internet and $60 a month internet.. and lets just say the free internet lets all your neighbors Leech that connection for free net as well..No one would touch the $60 net except to host free net. Alot less sales overall and ultimately a company killer.
those friends would buy the content so that they could share it with their otherfriends, or make use of it when its not around.
its like when you offer demos of a product to people, people trying that product an finding they like it are more likely ot buy it, then if they just see it sitting on the shelf an no nothing about it.
Oh well.I can't really explain it any better so i'ma stop explaining. .You are gonna think your way. I'ma think mine. But like i said earlier. If you feel so strongly about it. Start up a petition or something. Get in touch with UBI if it bothers you that much. Arguing back and forth with me sure won't make one bit of difference.
i dont feel strongly about it.
i'm just pointing out that it has the ability to increase sales through the fact that people would be more likely to buy something after trying it if they like it. since well , if you play a game at your friends house an you like the game. and you have the ability to buy it for yourself an play it on your own computer/console then you're more likely to buy the game for yourself. in essence it is the same thing here.
you tried it for free , sure you could ask your friend to borrow it, but inevitably if you really like it you're going to want to be able to play it without having to bother your friend.
I also don't expect DLC to be free, because content is created by people working hard to produce it an unless the company is making money in some other way. to help pay for the content its not fair ot the people making it, who should be paid for the content they create. and the profits of such content should obviously be used to produce more for the game, or for game similar since the more the game, and its following DLC sale, the more the company is likely to take note of its popularity.
however that doesn't change the fact that demo copies of items are a tried and tested method for boosting sales.
no where in my post did i indicate my position on whether or not the DLC "should" be free. that is a statement that you pulled from thin air to help bolster your arguement.
