Game freezing often
I have just got back to this game after a few weeks of not touching it and now it freezes quite often for a few seconds, even though it runs at decent fps (~70 on very high details). Back when I played the game earlier it wasn't happening at all. I have it on a hdd but I guess it shouldn't be a problem since other games (like The Witcher 3) run perfectly fine. What could be the reason? Any of the game updates? Windows 10 updates? I think I should add that my cpu is at constant 90+% usage but as I said it didn't seem to be a problem before. Here's a short video showing the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XblOX_hp6Jg

When was the last time your drivers were updated and do you have the most recent Windows OS version?

I've done most everything on those lists with the exception of a uPlay update (drivers were updated ~4 days ago).

After a reinstall of uplay and updating to GeForce drivers 390.65 with the clean install option (drivers released today - 08 Jan), I managed to get through 20 minutes of gameplay without a freeze. Cautiously optimistic; will report back after I've had more time this evening.

Hello, unfortunately none of the above has helped me. Is it normal that the performance shown by ingame benchmark is way different compared to the one while playing? Whenever I use 'Benchmark' option in settings my gpu sits at 90+% all the time while cpu doesn't even reach 60% usage (screenshots: https://imgur.com/a/QULL7). Although whenever I play the game my cpu is on 100% usage on all cores for the whole time with framerate lower than during benchmarks and it often drops to mid 30s (both on ultra and high/vhigh settings). It also freezes pretty often (like 1-2 times every minute so it takes all the fun away). A few months ago (before I took a break from this game) it worked very well, I could even stream it using gpu encoder (which does affect cpu usage a bit) on high/vhigh settings without any drops/freezes. Is it possible that Win 10 FCU update or any of the game updates could have made it worse? Everything is up to date on my PC, this game seems to be the only one that has such performance issues :(

Got through 23 minutes last night before the uplay overlay popped up for an achievement and froze me for ~50 seconds. That's remedied easily enough by disabling the overlay. After that, ran for another five minutes before another major freeze popped up, this time unrelated to uplay overlay and with no sign of the saving icon to pin it on cloud saving, and lasted 90 seconds, after which I quit before the rage fully set in. Seems to behave better with the new driver install, from my limited time so far, but still a frustrating experience.

Also, thanks for responding/monitoring this sort of thread. I'm sure it's generally thankless work, but I appreciate that you're out there. Will drop another update this evening.

Sat down to play for a while, but it wasn't meant to be. My hope in the driver update and uplay reinstall was misplaced. Here's the breakdown (durations in MM:SS) of my ~30 minutes of "play" time after loading into the game.

05:15 - Played
00:32 - Frozen
04:04 - Played
00:40 - Frozen
03:10 - Played
00:35 - Frozen
05:22 - Played
00:38 - Frozen
00:37 - Played
05:23 - Frozen

I stuck with this last freeze out of morbid curiosity - five and a half minutes of helicopter and gunfire on repeat >.<

Immediately quit to desktop after that last, longest freeze since I started down this trail of misery, only to have a little more insult heaped upon injury as it froze for another 03:25 while EXITING. Got fed up enough at that point to mash the reset button on my machine.

40% of the time I had the game open, it was completely frozen. Utter garbage fire, that.

what keyboard and mouse do you have?
MisterToolbox Jan 9, 2018 @ 9:53pm
I've got a Corsair K70 RGB Rapidfire and a Razer Mamba Chroma; rainbows... rainbows everywhere. I killed Corsair's horrid CUE software as well as Razer Synapse during my earlier trial runs, but was still getting freezes.

Ah no, sorry to see you're still having issues. If you want us to take a more in depth look at what could possibly be causing this, I would advise you create a support ticket at {LINK REMOVED} so our technical team can assist you further.

When you create your case, please attach a copy of your Dxdiag and Msinfo to speed up the process of how quickly we can help you. All the information you need to create these is available in this FAQ: {LINK REMOVED}

Then maybe they'll be able to give you a few more tips that might help after viewing your system files.

Sorry you're having trouble to. We're collecting more info about this currently, so I would advise you follow the steps I posted above too but also include a screenshot of your benchmarks and your graphics settings in game. We might be able to give more help if we have this info.

I think I've fixed the problem, maybe other people can benefit from this: I've opened task manager and found a process called "MSI ActiveX Service" or sth along those lines which has been taking ~50% of my cpu usage when idle! I've disabled it and after testing the game for about 10 minutes it feels way better. Gpu 95+% usage, cpu ~90% and around 60 fps on ultra settings 1080p. Seems like MSI has a problem with their software.

Thank you for posting your experience with this. I'll keep a note to alert other users if they have a similar issue :)
