Crashing from Skills Menu

i5 7400
8gb ram
gtx 1060
win10 home edition

Are you only getting crashing issues while navigating to the Skills Menu? Please let me know if this keeps up after checking out the suggestions in our troubleshooting FAQ.

Ive checked the FAQ and seems nothing fit the bill, only closest thing i could find was tac map, but i have no issues opening the tac map

it freezes and crashes whilst in the customisation, skills tab, havent went far enough to open the others, but seems to be the menu with the tabs that causes problems.

to be more specific, everytime i hover over a skill in the skills tab, the game freezes abit, and then crashes.

ive reinstalled twice, and still have no clue what might be causing the issue

Alright, that is on the strange side. If this keeps up after verifying your game files then I definitely recommend reach out to Ubi Support so our team can take a closer look into what might be causing this issue.

Im hard crashing every 5 minutes and have to restart my computer, tried every thing to fix last two hours. Very fraustrating to say the least because it seems like a great game.

And of course when it isn't crashing, it's disconnecting from the server. Soooooooo glad I tried it out before buying because NOW I'm NOT buying. Well done, Ubisoft. AGAIN.

Im on the third re-installation after having verified the games multiple times after each install,

its a great game, i own it on console, but didnt like having to play with a controller. to address your issue, ive been searching online for a solution as well, at the beginning, when i just bought the game yesterday it was crashing every 5 mins too, during character creation, to circumvent this situation, i basically skipped character creation as soon as i got in and loaded into the game.

i thought initially it might have been a faulty ram / memory issue but after running several diagnostic test , my card was negative on any faults. maybe you can try checking your memory as well and see if that helps you.

Same here. Crashing when viewing Skill to Level it Up.

Having the same issue, it is crazy how predictably I can make the game lock up. Has anyone figured out a fix for this? I really need to fix this. Even a crazy work around to upgrade skills I'll take it.

EDIT: FYI I have found a temporary work around, and possibly the cause of the freeze, I have renamed the skills video folder and have not had a problem since.

uplaygames/ Gohst Recon /videos/skills

Rename the skills folder to Skills-BAK and viola no more hover videos to crash the system.

Maybe it has to do with video codecs?

So I had the same problem and I think I got a fix for it(btw I tried changing the Skills file to Skills-BAK and it didn't work for me): so I have

core i7 8700k
Rtx 2080
16 Gb ram
win10 pro
and a Thermaltake 850w PSU

why I'm I mentioning my PSU? because I replaced it with my old PSU(cooler master 700w)
and the game worked with no crash when I use the skill tree menu, I couldn't believe it, at first I was too scared to even hover over the skill tree menu and I clicked it and it was working fine!
when I had the menu problem it even got worse! my pc would lag and freeze and when I restart the pc it won't boot on, it will turn on for a few seconds then it turns off and it repeats forever!
i tried everything even changing the PSU and when it worked fine I couldn't believe it so give it a try guys and tell me if it works fine.

the issue is your graphics card. the game has problems with RTX cards which a major chunk of the playerbase run into, yet Ubisoft doesn't care about fixing the issue.
