That One Really Hard 'Defend the Radio' Mission
Yet another epic moment in our multiplayer playthrough. You probably know of it: that one radio defence mission in which you are engaged from every direction at once - a mission harder (in my opinion) than many of the other main missions. We failed it the first time but managed to flee with our lives. Then we came up with a really effective solution. :)

Here's the video:

Again, great game!

Nice vid. Yeah, they are by far the hardest missions imo, I play with AI for the most part making it actually harder since I have to do the lion's share. Parking vehicles to form a perimeter and form choke points really helps. Regular pedestrian vehicles tend to blow up pretty fast. APCs, Unidad armored vehicles, etc are all ideal but better to just use your Rebel Vehicle drop off for convenience. If you can survive the initial onslaught, the last minute or so seems to thin them out. I use LMG as primary and explosive drones for taking out clusters when they are all huddling around their cars, heh.

Nice. Glad to hear we are not the only one's experiencing difficulty.

Good video.
I tried this a while back, but was lazy and just parked cars that were to hand around the radio... Needless to say, it didn't work!
I will have to pull my lazy finger out, and get me some trucks!

Totally agree, the protecting the radio side missions are really hard, especially solo like how I'm playing atm.... Must go have some more co-op play, this video reminded me of what fun it is when you're in a good group.

Yeah, a good group is key. I've played with some bad groups...not fun!

I found radio defends hard at first (I play solo with AI teamates) until I decided to let Pac Katari help. So before turning the radio on I called for a diversion then I waited for a bit and called for hired guns. In between calling for rebel support I would shoot the tires of rebel vehicles forcing them to dismount. Then I mined the roads that enemies would most likely use. That's it, now radio defense is very easy.

(I'm playing on Extreme difficulty by the way).

Mine any roads in long enough out so the cars blow up.
Make sure to command your AI morons to shoot
Call in Rebel backup
Only have failed 1 so far

Good work. I find, in this particular mission, the rebels always deploy too far away.

I won the Radio mission with only two shots. I set the team to stand in the room on one side of the emitter and then hit the power switch. Then I ran out to the front of the emitter and launched a grenade at the first car of Scarios that showed up. I then raced back to the other side of the emitter and launched another grenade at the second car of Scarios that were coming from the other side. My two grenades killed all the Scarios before they got out of each of the cars.

From there I just kept moving back and forth from the front to the back and stayed ready as the clock ticked down. No other Scarios showed up and I got a successful mission out of it.

It looks like the best defense is a good fast offense. True story.

mines can be a problem with civilians driving over them while youre setting up so i would recommend using c4
that way you can decide when to blow it, usually as it all starts going south haha

a full perimeter of parked cars and c4, rebel support and the underbarrel gren launcher you can light the place up

I have failed one.

Because I shot down a helo and it fell right on the radio.

Yeah. Mines are often more trouble than they are worth.

Call in rebel backup before you start it. They don't have a timer, just a leash. If they spawn and don't move, go walk over and say hi and they'll wake up. The maxed out version calls like 15 of them with like 4 or 5 using LMG's and they do not ♥♥♥♥ around.
