Is anyone else getting a complete computer crash when you play this game. I got a 4 month old computer and never had this problem with any other game. I can't enjoy this game without crashing every 1 hour. Just want to know im not alone.

Computer Spec.

I7-6700
GTX 1060
16 GB Ram
Windows 10

I really enjoy this game but if this is a problem then i can't really play until they update it or sometthing

Try this first...

1) Make sure your power plan is set to PERFORMANCE (in Control Panel settings).

2) Can you all make sure Windows is not trying to update in the background. Disable it from `Automatic updates`.

3) Go to Control Panel `Security and Maintainence*` (S&M*), change "Automatic settings" to run "Automatic Maintainence" at a time when you will not play the game ( I set mine for 5a.m.)... BUT if you do not have your PC on then, Windows may revert to doing it when it feels like it (such as during a game).

4) Try CPUCores... which can ensure all other process`s will use only one core leaving your other cores dedicated to the game.

5) Make sure you defragmented your hard-drive before installing your game.

6) Make sure you have a proper gaming hard-drive before installing your game.

7) Have nothing overclocked.

8) Usual make sure you dont have a ton of dust clogging up yoru PC cooling fins and GPU fans etc.

9) You did run Ccleaner before installing the game..... right..?

10) Patiently wait for more updates. Lol...

That shouldn't be a problem, computer is fairly new 3 months old and nothing is overclocked, i usually never modify my cpu for that cause I need my cpu to have a long life span. Open Beta for me had no problems at all, I played all day long for 2 days (wanted to make sure i 100% the beta lol) but the full game seems like it is having trouble. Every other game i can play ultra settings and never ran into this kind of problem.

+1 for crashes.

I've had multiple BSOD and frequent 10-15 second pauses in game. CPU usage is always at 100% while this game is running. Only game I have that does this.

32gb ram
1000w power supply

CPU temps stay under 60C

last night the game was fine, but now i can't even open the game, it turned to black screen and big noise from the computer in a min after i started the game

Was just playing for an hour to monitor CPU usage that the game demands. Before playing it was at about 5% usage. While in game running around and shooting at enemies it goes up to 99% occasionally then drops down to the casual usage of 70-85% which seems very high. The devs need to patch this or tell us how to fix this. It's insane how my PC, which is way beyond the recommended req, can barely run this game on high settings without the CPU being torn apart. My CPU is not a problem. But apparently the game hates it.

i cant say for sure why its working for me now, but i can only guess something went wrong during the preload-unpack process and kept causing my game to ♥♥♥♥ up. i got the new drivers and reinstalled the whole game and it seems to be working normal for now. i guess if you havent already, reinstall that ♥♥♥♥♥.

edit: played for a bit, no crashes or graphics issues but i did get some odd audio bugs like radio voices cutting out for no reason. nothing game breaking.

Lowered my settings a bit yesterday and was able to play for a couple of hours instead of just 30-60 minutes before the BSOD happened again. Installed today's new GPU driver from Nvidia and played for almost 3 hours without the issue. Can't say for sure if it's resolved but so far it looks promising (although the benchmark still stresses the GPU up to almost 95% at peaks).

what does everyone have in common here ? can anyone guess ?

so far all I have seen on these forums are people claiming poor performance, crashing & BSOD. and all of these people have nvidia cards.

I have not seen a single person with an AMD card complain yet (maybe I missed it). just food for thought.

edit: just so you are aware. I run a RX 480 and currently getting better performance than some 1080 users and have had zero issues with the game.

can confirm that older cards having less issues at least mine is I have a 7 series and get 48 fps most of the time with a few dips on traveling.... but have played for hours without any change..one thing you may try is makeing a larger swap file as maybey you are running out of disk space if it is windows managed? just a guess good luck

Not food for thought, cause only a really small minority visit forums at all, let alone steam forums. And more people have Nvidia cards.

yes food for thought. I still don't see a single person with an AMD card complain, so minority or not, Nvidia seems to have issues with this game currently. especially if my AMD card beats the performance of Nvidia's top card.

search any other game forum and you will see AMD & Nvidia users complain, this one seems to be only Nvidia.

Before you start speculating about AMD vs NVIDIA, and derailing this thread into an AMD vs NVIDIA ♥♥♥♥ show...

The main problem with deciding to go down this path of "troubleshooting" is that pretty much everything else has pointed me towards my processor being the problem. Not the video card. The actual error code that I get, the "CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT", when I looked it up says that the cores in the processor were out of sync and the computer shut down in order to prevent damage. Some people have also been saying that their CPU's are maxed out when they crash.

Following some people's advice here, I checked my power settings, and to my horror found it on optimal, instead of performance. Unfortunately, even after changing it, the computer froze again a few hours later.

To test the CPU load, I was monitoring task manager on the 2nd monitor while playing. Sometimes the game would hit 80%, but never really 100% for me. When the game froze, it was actually only at 50%. So I have ruled that out for myself. I think it is a random CPU hang, not one based on the load on it.

Counting up all the processors mentioned in this thread, I count mostly 6700ks, and a few 7700ks, and a few oddballs. While they are not all the same processor, they might all go onto the same class of motherboard. So this led me to check my motherboard drivers, and sure enough there was an update released Feb 17th, 2017, and not one before that for a while. My motherboard is ASUS ROG Maximus VIII Hero. I flashed my BIOS, and I have not had a crash since, for about 8 hours of play now.

Some people are saying that they have not had any crashes for a little while, so maybe Ubisoft actually just fixed something in the meantime, and the BIOS flashing didn't actually fix anything.

If you are going to try to flash your BIOS though, make sure you figure out how to back up the existing one. I ran into a bit of fun along the way, like PC not even booting into BIOS. I was able to resolve it only due to some junk extra feature on my mobo I didn't even know I paid for (Flashback BIOS).

Not turning this into a AMD vs Nvidia ♥♥♥♥ show. it was just a suggestion, if you want to take it like that then I can't stop you. carry on
