Pre-load Warning: For first time pre-loaders
Every other game I've pre-loaded I've seen complaints on the discussions at release time from people who weren't aware of this little issue, so here's my usual pre-load warning.

Make sure you have at least DOUBLE the required file size. The pre-load on this game is roughly 44 gigs, make sure you have at least 90 gigs free on whatever drive you are pre-loading/installing the game on.

The way to think of Pre-load is that you are downloading an encrypted DVD basically. All the files are there, but they have to be decrypted and installed to their proper location. This process effectively doubles the size of the pre-load before it completes because you have the encrypted pre-load files and the decrypted installed files on your drive at the same time.

Once the decryption process is completed, the pre-load files are deleted and you only require the amount of space stated on the store page, but for those installing to a small SSD this will cause you problems if you are not prepared for it.

Uplay version - 44.53 Gb uncompressed files.

In the requirements state 50GB HDD space needed

I don't know how Uplay handle their pre-load files, I only know how Steam does it. If the Uplay version's files are not encrypted then great you don't need to worry about this warning. If they are encrypted then it will probably result in the same double size situation.

Bumping this for anyone who missed it.

Sounds like something similar GTAV did. You needed 120GB when installing for a 60GB game.

That's exactly what it is. And not just GTAV. Pretty much all Steam pre-loads do the same thing.

And one hour to go. Last bump for this for those who might have missed it. Still time to fix the issue if you have it.

Just move other games/programs off the drive (remember their location) to free up enough space, then once the pre-load files are decrypted and deleted you should be able to move those games/programs back on just fine. Whatever you do, do not move the steamapps/depotcache folder. That's where your pre-load files are and if they are moved steam will just download the files instead of decrypting and that'll turn a 20 minute process into an hour long process or more (depending on your download speed.)
