Game don't start? This might help.
So I enjoyed the game quite long until it stopped working after some updates. Tried to start the game and nothing happend, start button on steam was changing back to start right after i clicked it. So i startet to search for a solution. Reinstall and checking the files didn't helped. Googled for "steep not launching". Found some stuff for other games but nothing specific for steep. So i started to try a few things like starting as admin and some other standard procedures. After nothing helped ,I started to follow the error codes I was getting when i started the game directly from the installation folder.

If you try to start the game directly from your game folder (?:SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Steep\Steep.exe) you can get an error that msvcr110.dll and msvcp110.dll is missing. Those are some library files that should have been included in the installation, but they aren't. Tried to reinstall several times and also checking for faults in steam does not fix this. You'll find them on the internet, get them from trusted sites. Just get the newest ones and place the two .dll files in your :SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Steep\ folder.
If you try to start now, still out of the folder, you should have an other error, it can't start because of 0xc000007b something, don't know the exact phrase anymore.
Now go to this folder ?:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Steep\Support\Software\VCRedist and install/repair(double click and follow the steps) all the 3 files(vcredist_x64.exe; vcredist_x64_2012.exe, vcredist_x86_sp1.exe) in it. After that, start the game and hopefully enjoy the ride.
It fixed the launching problem for me.

Because I posted this workaround in several older threads ubisoft asked me to write this new one, to keep the forum organised. And in addition ! should let them know if the steps in their troubleshooting guide solved the issue.
The addition:
The Ubisoft "troubleshooting guide" helped me barely, mostly because their troubleshooting aims for your system and not their game, no error codes or something specific for the game, just asking if everything is up to date and if you started as admin. At least with starting as admin i was going into the game folder and was getting an error code. So somehow yes it helped to solve the issue by starting as an admin and getting an error i could follow and search for and so on. But would be great if you could find somthing game specific like possible error codes and what to do if you have those errors.

Hello Hagakure187, thanks for posting and thank you for sharing your resolution of downloading the supporting software that was missing from the games installation folder.

We do have a guide that explains how supporting software is needed for most of our games, but I will admit it is rather brief > https://support.ubisoft.com/en-gb/Article/000062655/

Alternatively, this software and older versions of this software can also be downloaded from these links >

DirectX different versions - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
.NET Framework 4.5 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30653
Visual C++ x64 - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on more guidance when it comes to particular messages such as msvcr110.dll and msvcp110.dll missing files. I will happily pass this onto our FAQ guide team and see if we can make a more in-depth article that makes these errors more searchable.

Thanks for the great feedback!

Sooo, Y'all know the problem, know that the game doesn't even launch but still sell it without the fix, This is f**ked up. Let people know on the store page before buying it and wasting hours.

Hello k-BeQ, thank you for your reply.

Not every player will encounter this issue with supporting software when trying to launch the game, but we advise players to always launch our games with admin permissions just in case.

The post from Hagakure187 details a workaround that worked for them after their game stopped launching and presented them with a specific error code and message and we appreciate them posting their solution to this.

If you do happen to have a similar issue or any problems with the game launching, please let us know?
