Steep cannot launch
I downloaded Steep last night but it just cannot open. I tried redownload the game, verifying local file completeness, launching via Ubisoft Connect, and reinstalling Ubisoft Connect, but the game still cannot launch. There is not even an error message, just the game automatically ends after a few seconds.

Hey Fred, thanks for reaching out about having this same issue.

Can you also check the troubleshooting guide[www.ubisoft.com] Ubi-TheBerry had linked? In particular from that guide, please make sure you've updated your graphics drivers and operating system, you've verified the game files, and you don't have any unnecessary background programs interfering with the game.

If the issue persists after those steps, please let me know - in that case, I'll have some further ideas we can use to get this sorted out.

Hi Chebulus,

I'm sorry to hear that Steep is also not launching for you.

If you have gone through the PC troubleshooting steps in the link in the post above, then could you please submit a support ticket[support.ubi.com] and attach your system files dxdiag[support.ubi.com] and msinfo[support.ubi.com] and our Customer Support team will investigate this further for you.

Ok, if you try to start the game directly from your game folder (?:SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Steep\Steep.exe) you should get an error that msvcr110.dll and msvcp110.dll is missing. You'll find them on the internet on chip.de for example. Just get the newest ones and place the two .dll files in your :SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Steep\ folder. If you try to start now, you should have an error it can't start because of 0xc000007b something, don't know the exact phrase anymore.
Now go to this ?:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Steep\Support\Software\VCRedist folder and install all the 3 files in it. After that start the game and enjoy the ride. It fixed the
launching problem for me.

Hey Hagakure187, thanks for reaching out with this workaround for launching issues!

Many of the threads you've posted in were quite old, and it is unclear if those players had the same launching issue as you've had. Please put your workaround into a new thread, so that players facing launching issues will see your post and can try your suggested fix! This will help us to keep the forum organised, and help us gather players having the same launching issue into just one thread. Thanks again for your help!

In addition, can you let us know in your new thread if the steps in our troubleshooting guide[www.ubisoft.com] solved the issue? In particular, we'd expect verifying the game files to add any additional files needed automatically into the install folder.

Let me know if you've any questions about that at all.
