Steep
Steep Immediate Crash
After installing the game, verifying files *(after crash) and disabling anti-virus and fire-wall, I am still greeted by the same problem every time. The game starts, runs for about a split second, but there's no intro video, because the game crashes before it can even display the window for the running program. My brother also experienced the same with Watch Dogs 2. The game starts, crashes and then UPlay syncs achievements. Really hope we can find a solution to this problem.

PC Specifications as someone might have questions as to if my computer can run Steep.
GTX Titan
Intel(R) Core i7 3820 3.60GHz
16 GB ram (DDR3)
Running on my only HDD (I'm not fortunate enough to own an SSD yet)

Uninstalled it and redownloading the game now, will take about 5 hours.

Hopefully someone from Ubisoft finds this thread, I've had great luck with Assassin's Creed Unity, where ubigumdrops made a great attempt to help.

But consider checking these out

Also just discovered that you can download 21 GB out of 26 GB, and that will make the game playable, not sure if this could cause a problem.

Same problem for me. It starts and runs for a maxium of a second. The furthest I got into it was to where it says "developed by," but then it crashed.

Specs:
Intel i7-7700k
Asus Geforce GTX 1060 6GB
16 GB DDR4 RAM
Installed on an HDD connected with SATA (not boot drive) handled by Intel Rapid Storage Technology

EDIT: I tried several of the proposed fixes to no avail. I haven't tried installing it on an SSD yet. I'm gonna do that after freeing up some space on it

I’ve filled in a support page, and received a support ticket, hopefully they actually respond, for now, roll back display drivers/update display drivers, and check to see that msiafterburner is disabled. This really sucks, because we’d all love to be able to play the game, and we didn’t even pay for it, so many people payed 60 usd...
A person on Reddit said that he/she got it working by backing up the contents in C:\Program Files (x86) \Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames, and saving it somewhere else like on the desktop zipped with winrar or winzip, essentially clearing the save file. I’m not currently at home but will give this a shot a.s.a.p. Hope this helps you guys.

I tried moving the save files outside, but the only savefile I had was for a different game. Well, regardless, it didn't work :/

Let's hope the support ticket might fix help with this. Probably won't, but let's keep our hopes up.

I can add that I know I've run the demo of this game a long time ago with the same specs. Only difference was that I had it on a different HDD and wasn't using Intel Rapid Storage
I’ve heard that the extension for the sound files are a bit wonky with some hard drives, a person in a subreddit said that placing the sounddata folder in another harddrive and creating a symbolic link to the Steep game folder should fix that, here’s the sublink and a tutorial for you to try, hope this fixes your problem. https://www.reddit.com/r/Steep/comments/5g54a4/pc_psa_possible_fix_if_the_game_is_not_launching/

I tried that when I had it on the non-boot drive. Tried to move it over to my boot SSD. Didn't work. Then I tried moving the whole thing over to my boot drive. Still doesn't work :/
I understand that people have priorities to tend to, but honestly, there are so many people who paid for this game and they've received ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ support from Ubisoft, like I said, ubigumdrops has helped me before, but there can't be only 2 people attempting to fix the problems of thousands. I've had problems with AC Unity, Watch Dogs 2 on a different desktop and now Steep. I think ubisoft games are fantastic for the most part, but I honestly think that many of us won't easily participate in purchases of most Ubisoft titles anymore, due to the lack of support. No offense to individuals such as ubigumdrops who's busting his/her ass to fix issues.

Guys if you disable your GPU drivers and run it through integrated, the game actually ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ launches, but you're stuck with 1 fps, this isn't a fix at all, just an observation. I'm using a GTX Titan card, not sure if this applies to AMD GPU's. Maybe we can find a work around for this situation.

Regardless of that, all the people that got it for free are potential customers of the DLCs. Honestly, if I like the game I may want to get them. But I won't buy them if I can't play the game before the sale is over for the DLCs . . .

Anyways, yeah, I'm not sure who Ubigumdrops is, but props to them if they are trying to fix it for us!

Yeah, at least that could point in a direction. I've got an GTX 1060 6GB for reference and couldn't get it to run. My brother has a GTX 1050ti iirc and he got it to run.

Same thing, brother can play it without a problem on the latest GeForce Drivers. I've been unable to play the game with my eGPU, and Ubisoft are most likely tired of my complaints by now.

I figured out how to fix it! Look for the launcher in the folder, open properties and run it in compatibility mode for Windows 8. That made me able to run the game. I haven't tested if it works beyond that as I didn't have time to actually play the game now, but at least it gets past the immediate crash

Unfortunately that wasn't the fix for me, glad you got yours working though.

Yeah, I’m sorry. I tried it and got further than the just crashing immediately, and I assumed it meant it worked. Next time I started it with the intent to play it, it crashed at the loading screen and I couldn’t get any further than I used to anymore :(
