How do you spin fast reliably?!?

Can someone help me understand the game mechanics? I move the sticks as fast as I can after letting go of jump. Sometimes I spin really fast, mostly average, sometimes barely turns...???

Initiate the spin a split second before you release jump to get a fast spin. So your using turn to start it just before you get airbourne.

If you do it after releasing its usually slow :)

thats if youre still on the ground, the idea is to start turing the split second before you leave the jump but still in the jump animation, it takes a bit but itll come to you in time
