Report a translation problem
Right click on game in your library -> Properties -> set Steam Input Setting to "Forced Off".
That way it may be able to get the original ingame controller preset working again. The steam controller config is messing things up more than it does anything good.
Well, I loved this game but better with controller.
Wireless xbox one controller working?
I also refunded the first time because my controller wasn't working. I then had a similar problem with another game and got the solution for that one with the steam setting. Bought Steep back again then, tried the solution and the controller was working again. I'm using a wired Xbox One Controller. So yes, it should work that way.

But I had to set it to FORCED >>ON<< and then the controller worked without a problem. (Actually in German it's called "Steam-Eingabe aktivieren")
