Controller Issues with Steep
So I got Steep a couple of days ago as a gift and for about the first few days played it with my new Xbox One controller ( hooked via Buletooth) without issue. Then after the awhile I started having issues with my controller not working right. First it was buttons changing and not working correctly, then it was flipping my thumbsticks, until finally I couldn't use the controller at all. I thought that maybe it was the Bluetooth and inteference happeing, so I tested playing the game with my old wired Logitech controller and it wouldn't work either. The game says there's a controller plugged in but nothing that I do on the controller happens. I've been trying to restart the game and see if it fixes itself but so far nothing has happened. Has anyone else had this issue and might know how to fix it? I really enjoy racing in this game and it's way too hard to do it on the keyboard!

I'll be keeping this post updated with any changes. Thanks for the help!

EDIT 1: So it seems to be working fine now when I restart it but when I go into the menu options the controller won't work and I have to resume via mouse. I've been able so far to keep snowboarding and stuff but I don't know how long that'll last as I'm just testing in spurts.

EDIT 2: Honestly after playing for longer spurts it seems totoally random when my controllers work. Sometimes I'll go with little to no issues and other times it won't work. I'm honestly at a loss as to why this is happening as both of my controllers work fine with other games.

Been like that since day one. It's even in their list of known issues on Ubisoft's Steep Technical Support Forum:

[PC]
In Windows 10, Player will not receive any input from the in-game menu if his Xbox One controller is connected through Bluetooth.

Just got an xbox controller with bluetooth and have the same issues. The game is almost useless. Has there been any way to solve this yet?

Eh, same issue with a wired controller.

same wired or wireless. it worked the other day after some fiddling. Can't make it work again. No input at all.

Yeah I was playing with my wired xbox 360 controller just fine earlier and now it just straight up refuses to acknowledge I have it plugged in. Other games recognize it just fine.
Same issue here hope UBI can fix it.

Does anyone know if a wireless XBox 360 controller connected via USB receiver will have the same problems?

I just found a solution for the issue I was having. Steam was interpreting my controller input as Steam Controller input because of some setting I chose while using my Steam Link. I went to Steam>Settings>Controller>General Controller Settings, and unchecked Xbox Configuration Support. That caused my computer to stop using my controller input as mouse/keyboard input, which allowed Steep to recognize that I was using a controller.

I can confirm Pug's solution works. Thank you, Pug!

Nah the game is a POS with controls spent 45 minutes just trying to even move in the game but can't because either the controller isn't working or when I don't have controller plugged in and try to use my mouse and keyboard it continually switches to controller regardless of literally no controller being plugged in.
