Can't launch the game after the new update/download
Couldn't launch the beta as well, seems like the update have transfered that problem to the main game. Please fix asap.. Anyone else have this problem?

Everyone send support tickets with the info the dev asked for, they need that to know why its only effecting some systems. For me its still fine.

Maybe a pinned thread UBI? where people can post that info here as some are having issues with submitting tickets :)

I got answer from UBISOFT support:

"Thank you for contacting Ubisoft Consumer Support, my name is Kenneth and I will deal with your case.

For people like you who have the problem starting the game there are a number of things we would ask you to do to check:

1) Verify game files

In this link go down to the "Verifying a Game's Files in Uplay":
https://support.ubi.com/en-US/Faqs/000019000/Install-Uninstall-Verify-A-Game-in-Uplay
If you use Steam here is the link of how you do that:
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

2) Update the Graphics card drivers. Here is a link that describes this:
https://support.ubi.com/en-US/Faqs/000001910/How-Do-I-Update-Drivers-PC
It is best if you can uninstall them first and then install them again rather than update them

3. Disable your background applications:

To do this, go to the Start menu on your desktop (or, if using Windows Vista/Windows 7 press the Windows key and the letter R at the same time)
Type in MSCONFIG and press Enter
Go to the tab, which says Start-up
Click the option to Disable All
Press Apply, then Close then pick the option to Restart

4. Clear your temporary files:

To do this, go to the Start menu on your desktop (or, if using Windows Vista/Windows 7 press the Windows key and the letter R at the same time)
Type in %TEMP% and press enter.
Go to Edit and Select All.
Go to File and Delete.

NOTE: If you are using Windows 7, to highlight the files you will need to press Ctrl + A together. Once the files are highlighted, you will need to press the Delete key.

5. Open your Control Panel, and make sure to uninstall anything which is related to Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2010

Once this is done, please download and install the following files using one of two links:
x86: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555
x64: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14632

6. Please download and install this version of DirectX: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

The final will be to reboot and reinstall the game.

If, once you’ve done this, you are still experiencing the issue please send us a fresh system information report so that we can further investigate your issue.

To do this:

- Hold down the Windows key on the keyboard and press "R".
- Type "DXDIAG" and click OK.
- This will open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.
- Click the Save All Information button at the bottom.
- Save the file to your Desktop with the name "DXDIAG.txt".

Also in order to help you resolve your problem, we will need to take a closer look at the way your hardware and software are configured on your system. To do this, we will need a copy of your MSINFO file.

- Hold down the Windows key on the keyboard and press "R".
- Type MSINFO32
- Click OK.

Once loaded click File > then EXPORT (not save) the file locally to your system, please upload the file on to this ticket.

We would also appreciate if you can zip up the files in this folder
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\logs
and send them to us too.

If you have any other questions you are always welcome to contact us again and we will be happy to help you.

Yours sincerely

Kenneth
Ubisoft Consumer Support"

I don't have time to try every step right now, but if someone else could see if it sorted out the issue that would be great.

I've already tried verifying cache, updating drivers and reinstalling though.

Problem isn't in our system but in game! I play it for 3 days until new patch DLC with olympics has been released. After that problem ocurr! So it cannot help, cos there is the bug in the game. So guys, try send your tickets, all off you, I think we cannot do better now from our side.

1. If you have software running to record games, turn it off.

2. If you have software running that displays information on screen (like FPS / GPU fan % / Core temps / etc) turn it off.

Try starting Steep now.

For example, I use MSI Afterburner to set a custom fan curve for my GPU, it also monitors the GPUs stats. It then uses Rivatuner to display some information on screen by (me) toggling a Function button.

When MSI Afterburner is running, Steep opens to a small window, "loads" and then crashes.

When I close Afterburner, it auto-closes Rivatuner as well and then Steep starts up no problem.

Roommate had the same issue, except his Steep would start, and then crash shortly after getting on the mountain. Turned of Afterburner, problem solved.

Same here
The game won't launch after this fxcking update!!
Verify files integrity won't help

If you can't fix the issue, please just rollback to previous release!
(rollback to previous release on steam)

Don't tell me to do any tweaks, because this game runs smoothly before this update
as an ITguy myself, it definitely caused by the game patch itself.

Steep is now not playable anymore.

I had this problem before with other games so I did what you said but it didn't work.
The game still crashes before it can even start Uplay. So In my case Rivatuner/Afterburner isn't the cause
