Top Tier Divine Short Swords
I've explored all of the swords unlocked at rank 13. The Divine types of short blades are few and far between with most of them have lousy skills or those easily ignored.

The Rigoletto (sariel blade) isn't very useful since you can easily maintain burst for the duration of a map and has situation uses for mid air attacks. Only a few of mobs would I fit in mid air with a holy blade (Aether and Poseidon).

The Gem sword was nerfed in this version. I have the rare drop items on a shield and find that the aid skills are bad althogether.

The holy wild sword (chiyou blade thing)... it's probably the most useful power wise, but the skills were lackluster and you get it pretty late in the game.

The cursed blade or whatever it's called (the one made from Dyaus Pita), is probably the best choice if you can farm him. He gets easier with time. For me, however, that blade is hedious and looks are too important to me. It's a great weapon with dual element types. It's definitely the best of the pick if you don't mind the looks.

I buckled and made the Rune Edge: Dagaz. It has high pierce which isn't always great (I like a strong mix of slash and pierce), and the skills are average. Nothing fancy. It being single element type makes it a one-trick pony, but it looks pretty nice when you use it. The sample model kind of grew on me. Alas, you get access to this weapon very late in the game, so it's likely passable. However, since the better holy short blades are the upper ranked ones, it's a viable selection. You have to high Corrosive Hannible, which can be a tougher fight at the initial rank you have to fight it.

In GEB, the Black tortiouse blade was top tier IMO. It was pure slash which was fine considering you used a gun to cover crush and pierce. The skill on it were great. In this version, the skills are very lackluster. While the dps of short blades is higher than swords when you can chain long combos, you are probably better off using holy long blade or scythe than using this weapon. I love the look of it (it's my favorite of the holy short blades), but it being single damage typed and having a poor selection of initial skills makes it passable.

So, for those venturing to make a divine short blade, I make these suggestions.

1. Stick to a a good neutral weapon like the Poison pickaxe line or the Wild sword:yang.
2. If you need one, the Gem sword isn't initally bad.
3. Make the Dyaus pita short blade if you feel comforable farming him. However, there are better weapons with Spark damage, so this would only be useful for the divine damage.
4. The Rune Edge:Dagaz is a great endgame divine short blade.
5. Ignore all of the other divine short blades save for the few I listed as useful. They are a waste of resources in crafting unless you want to skil them up with God Arcs and like their appearance. I would saw the Rigoletto has the best balanced damage if you were going to go that route. Of course, you'll just pick the weapon you like and go about it that way.

Hmmm, what about the Wyvern dagger and Superbia? They look legit for a rank 13 SS

So having built the now called Teufel Dolch (Dyaus pite spark and divine blade), it is actually very good giving you the ability prolong your burst if you don't already have that skill on another item.

I haven't unlocked the Superbia but the Wyvern dagger looks pretty good too and I will definitely be making that one. The Rune Edge: is actually worse than the other 2 though has great piercing dmg.

After more documenting, I can tell you to NOT make the Wyvern Dagger. It's actually a derivative of the Serpant Dagger line. If you make and upgrade the Serpent Dagger, it will branch to the Phantom dagger and have Blaze AND Divine bonus damage along with the skills you gained from upgrading the weapon. They look exactly the same but the Phantom Dagger N (the rank 13 counterpart) will have a little more damage in slash and pierce (2 and 3 respectively) but will, as I said, have Blaze and Divine damage. While you can make the Wyvern Dagger outright, you gain more by upgrading the Serpent Dagger.

welp i guess its same status and skill makes it no less than a scrap then. But i guess its true.

Btw try making one of those guides about upgrade tree if you're really into this. It'll help much of people to see if the end upgrades is really worth the grind.

I've been taking a lot of notes specifically for this and updating the wiki. It's a huge undertaking. Also, while some weapons will have better damage or elemental values, it's usually minor and the weaker weapons tend to have better skills and are easier to make (can be acquired early).

Finally beat the whole story. Superbia definitely harkens to it's name. But I tend not to like the wild instict type skills that power you up when you are weak. I suppose it is technically the strongest Divine short blade in the game, but since you go through the entire game before you get it, it kind of defeats its purpose especially when other weapons do fine. Arius Nova isn't a cake walk either even with it's recycled Dyaus Pita skills.
