Is Alisa brain-dead?
So during Tyrant Breath, a rank 3 mission, Alisa is my only party member. During this mission, Alisa didn't do anything other than consume healing items and take damage, she didn't even attack the Aragami... is this a normal thing in this mission?

Yep, her AI is pretty much brain dead in the missions where you're forced to go with only her as a party member.

It's part of the story, did you not pay attention to what happened to her and why she needed your help? It's also on her skills page. She has debuffs on those missions.

More precisely it's because she's traumatised and afraid she might try shooting you like she did with Lindow.

I had payed attention to the story, but I expected at least *some* action out of her on occasion, not becoming nearly immobile for most of that mission.

It's part of Alisa's recovery arc. Actually, it's even in her Personal Abilities. If you look, she'll have an extra thing there. It changes over time, starting from Distrust, then Grief, then New Start, and then it goes away completely.
I never investigated it myself until she had New Start, but I noticed that it basically prevented her using her shield, so the earlier ones likely affect her similarly.

All part of Alisa's recovery from her trauma.
One the first mission, she does nothing. On the second mission, she starts shooting occasionally and maybe even healing. On the third mission, she's a lot more active.

As explained, it's for story reasons.

Its a story mission, her AI is ment to be that way in those few missions

This is NOT why. The AI for gun/New Types is a little short ranged. Annette is about the only one who will aggro at about your range and fire. Every other gun user waits til you're within 10 feet of a target, INCLUDING SNIPER Sakuya. Kind of annoying really. I believe her AI takes preference to melee, so she often waits til you are really close before doing anything.

You do realize that the AI will not attack an enemy that isn't in an alert state?

In anycase, Alisa's AI has slight changes (which can cause dramatic effects) depending on which part of the story you're in. Becomes much more apparent once you complete her character arc, and she gives you Burst for days~ Same applies with Kanon although I'm not too sure of the other characters.

I am aware of it. Hence my making the statement I made. I've often times nearly, or completely killed Arigami (And no not easy mode stuff) before they've even bothered to react. Except for Annette and Alt Annette. They more often than not will start shooting even before I do.

Different in experience then. I've found Kota and Kanon to both be pretty bloodthirsty trigger happy and will actively fight the Aragami even when I'm dawdling around, collecting stuff. As a matter of fact, I never use Annette because I kinda found that she didn't do as much as some of the other characters (yes this is with maxed out Personal Abilities).

In anycase, I guess the experience is different for others.

That's kinda how I felt about the three missions, except it wasn't that they were *hard*, but they were annoying to fight alone. I get why she's useless (in these missions) story-wise, but I really wish it didn't hinder the gameplay so much...

If you are finding those enemies that "annoying", maybe is a sign that you also need some extra training, by rank 3 not only equipment that outclass them is available, but you should also be more familiar with their moveset and already develop some basic strategies to deal with them.

Are you using traps and items?
Have you craft bullets that deal the appropriate kind damage to their weak spots?
Do you even know their weak spots and the kind of damage you need to deal?

Fighting enemies 1-on-1 shouldn't hinder your experience that much, the game is gonna start sending more and more enemies at you and you are going to be lucky if your teammates consistently distract one of two of them and you can't even take allies in some story missions

It's not really the "I keep getting hit" kind of annoying it's more like "sit still for two-seconds so I can actually get a hit on you" for the first mission, second mission it just felt long (I hadn't been able to upgrade my weapon for a while, probably due to me only going into the story missions), and the third one, I'll admit, I need more practice with. That giant scorpion throws me for a loop, but at least it's not flyin' all over the place. Overall, I like the game, I just didn't enjoy these three missions. Felt like a drag.

(As for traps and items, I have had no reason to actually use a trap yet, and my item usage has been pretty low. Maybe one restorative item every blue moon, but aside from that, nothing special.)
