It is loosely based on the first game, Resurrection, difference being is that Lenka is a fictional non-canon character. GEB/GER already has 2 official main characters, Yuu Kannagi and Aki Tamashiro, the default characters you see when creating a new male/female character are them.

The story line in resurrection is better than the anime with Lenka, there is also a pachi slot promotional anime thats pretty nice and the mangas =

That anime is a lie!, is cool looking but dosnt cover the events as happend, added a lot of other events just for Lenka to look cool and its such a big ass sumup of God Eater story. Play Resurrection first, it has everything you would ever ask/need to get into the franchise and story.

Both games are good, Resurecction is the latest game on the franchise but it is a remake of the PSP expanded remake of the very first game. So you might even sya the gameplay on it might be even better than GE2RB.

Actually there's plenty of official material outside the games that are accepted as canon, such as the manga. The anime is however non-canon, even though they made some plot things look a lot better and believable in it, like Eric's death.
They went full ♥♥♥♥♥♥ with Alisa's PTSD however...

Nah, I feel the same way, but I started with the anime then came to the game, so that may be why.

Project X Zone kinda got me into God eater and sadly It spoiled some things that I shouldn't really know.
