Resurrection doesn't launch (Problem solved)
I got these games as part of the Humble Bundle about a month ago. I just tried to play Resurrection but it doesn't launch. Steam says the game is running but absolutely nothing happens. It has a process in the task manager and I'm forced to end it from there since I can't quit the game in any other way. I've searched around all over and seen lots of reports of this issue but there's never any solutions for it.

I've tried re-installing the game and Steam. I've done file checks. I've turned off anti-virus. I've tried compatibility modes. I've done everything that I can think of. I contacted Bandai Namco to see if they have anything to say, but I figured I would post on here as well to see if anyone ever figured out a solution.

Before anyone comes along and starts talking about the black screen and changing the config file, this isn't the same issue. I wish I could get a black screen because then at least something would be happening.

Also, it seems the people that have reported this issue, it also happens with God Eater 2 for them. I haven't tried that game yet so I can't say if it does or not.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I fixed my problem. After some experimenting, and downloading a cracked version of the game for testing, I've gotten everything working now. As part of the installation of the cracked version, it also installed all of the prerequisites. For some odd reason, I was missing one of the Visual Studio 2008 redistributables, even though I had all of the others. This is the kind of stuff that Steam is supposed to be installing. I'm not sure why it decided not to. But now the game boots up perfectly fine. God Eater 2 works fine as well.

So I'll leave this all here just in case somebody comes along with the same issue. There has been lots of people reporting this issue, and even getting refunds because of it. Hopefully it can be of some use.

Hey Fenixx! Gonna try to help you out as best as I can. Just a few questions/tests of things to try:
1. What are your basic specs of the PC you are playing on (Processor, Memory, Video Card (if any), and Operating System)?

2. How are your graphics drivers looking? Are you using any override settings from your graphics card’s/chipset’s software? If yes to that last one turn them off or set them to allow the application to have control.

3. Has it been a while since your last restart? If it has been, restart your machine and test the game

4. Did you look at the config file in AppData? Was it blank in the graphics section [GFX]?

5. Try God Eater 2 Rage Burst and see if you get the same issue. This will weed out the specifics of the issue if it’s a one title issue or something more systemic.

My system is a Ryzen 5 1600X, 16 GB 3000 MHz memory, AMD RX 590, 1000 watt PSU, Windows 10 64-bit. Shouldn't be any issues in terms of hardware.

All the drivers are updated. I never make any changes to the graphics software so everything is running at default.

I shut off the computer every day and I even restarted it as part of trying to get the game to work.

I don't have the config file for the game, or any of the folders associated with it. The game doesn't even initialize to the point where it can start to create it's data files. I manually created the file path with the config file based on what another person had posted is in it, but it didn't affect anything.

I just tried God Eater 2 and that game does the same thing. There's something with the programming of these games that is messing up. I saw one person say that they had taken a cracked version of the game and overwrote their Steam version and then the game worked.

Browsing around on the pirate sites for this game, people are commenting about this exact same problem. They try and fire up the cracked version of the game but all it does is load up a process but doesn't start the game. The way they are supposedly fixing it is to have Steam installed so that it can pull whatever files from the Steam install that it needs. So basically my version of the game is acting like a pirated version. If it is denuvo that is preventing it from working, then maybe I should hop on the hate train for it just like most people do.

What exactly did you download to fix it?
I'm getting a flash of a new full screnw window, then it goes windowed, then it just crashed entirely.

I'm not sure what your problem could be. That's not what I experienced at all. But after I got the proper prerequisites installed, then the game worked fine.

as far as I can tell I have all the resists. game still crashes when I try to start it. It sounds like I'm suffering from the "full screen bug", and potentiality a problem with using a nvidia graphics card.

I'm not sure. This was 4 years ago that I played the game, and I haven't touched it since. Try looking around on these Steam forums and on Reddit or something to see if anybody has any solutions. Only thing I can suggest is to verify your game files, and make sure there is no programs interfering with the game launching, such as an anti virus, or modified settings in your Nvidia control panel.
