How is the GE2RB Story and Characters compared to GER's?

I walked into this game knowing absolutely nothing about God Eater. Absolutely nothing. It just looked interesting so I grabbed it on steam during the sale as my christmas gift to myself.

Last night I finished the Burst segment of GER, and started the Resurrection story.

So I was wondering. Character and Story-wise, how does GE2RB, compare to GER?

I've found conflicting reports online, that GER (or GEB) is better than GE2(RB), or that GE2 is the better one, and thus I am asking rather directly here, and I am looking for reasons why.

I am wondering because I have found myself rather attached to GER's characters and my custom-made Protagonist in this game.

I even found myself attached to Lindow despite him vanishing early in the game and not being around until the end of the Burst story and Ren (who I hear a lot of people dislike...)

And I am somewhat dreading leaving this group of people behind, especially the Protagonist, since I hear GE2RB won't let you import anything about this protagonist, and it'll effectively be as though they don't exist. A somewhat harrowing thought when I care so much about a player-made protagonist.

GE2 characters is copy a lot of old characters some are good : Ciel,Gilbert,Nana,Haru,Emil,Erina,Kigurumi . some are ok : Romeo.Yuno,Fran,Leah . some awful : Julius,Rachel,some Fat ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ( because i forget his name). for me it kinda mix.
for a sample : Julius is Lindow but unlike lindow he is boring. he don't have personality at all. for me Julius is bad person he try so hard to be a badass.
Lindow is the cool guy he nice kind and funny. Julius don't have any of that. and for Ren i like him in story but in combat he is useless.( i think that why many people hate him )
it up to you man that characters is good or not but story is not good as GE:R. (for me) GE2 it start meh and get better when some old characters are back and when than say to new Protagonist hey you remind me of that guy!!! that is best part for me (my big brother share game with me thank to him) and final reveal of bad guy is suck unlike soma father you understand him why he think that way. he love his son and his wife even sacrifice herself for humanity it no going back for him. but new bad guy.......... without spoiler the reason of bad guy in GE2 is so stupid. when them reveal why bad guy doing it. it made me laugh my ass off it start from something that so stupid and because of that stupid thing that happen bad guy want to end the World........... when past all of stupid thing in happen GE2 i m still find my self attached to my Protagonist and some characters. so it still good story but not great.

I can't speak too much to your question because I haven't finished either game and haven't even spent much time on Resurrection. However, I will say that even if the story in Resurrection is better, Rage Burst's is decent. It's not amazing by any stretch but I actually found it pretty compelling so far. I've completed the first story segment (I think ending at Difficulty 6) and enjoyed it. The conclusion was a little... weird... at first but after think about it some more it's alright. I won't use any spoilers but basically the story's explanation for how to defeat the final boss is kind of bizarre, and what happens in the closing scene is also strange. But on the whole, it's not bad and the characters are fine too. I'm now in the beginning segment of the expansion's story arc and it's definitely piquing my interest in the new story arc.

You also mentioned liking the cast of characters from Resurrection and aren't happy to leave them behind. Well obviously the protagonist can't really be talked about specifically in Rage Burst because they're a custom made character. So even calling it "he" or "she" would ruin it for the people who picked the other gender. But the protagonist from Resurrection is mentioned here and there in subtle ways. For instance, Lindow makes a remark that your character reminds him a lot of someone he used to know (implicitly referring to 1's protagonist). Often it more explicitly refers to the actions of the protagonist in terms of their story accomplishments. Speaking of Lindow, he and many of the other characters from Resurrection do reappear in Rage Burst. So I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised when they do. They can even be part of your team again, which is pretty sweet.

Story-wise GER and GE2RB had this kind of similarities. People with the Nova, an Evil Director, A plan to use the Nova Core to change the world befitting for his/her plan and stuff, and the God eater Protagonist had to thwart his/her plan to end the world.

If you worry a lot of getting into GER characters too much then i'll give you a bit spoiler mate. You'll meet them in their GE2RB version which is older then they used to be

For your protagonist well, it can't done since BAMCO didn't support any importation and the console write the protagonist as Yuu Kannagi. You'll just have to make one of your new character which sometimes people from GER(Ais) thought you were the first game protagonist despite BAMCO write Yuu Kannagi in the console, despite not having any resemblance to Yuu Kannagi

Well if you are asking for story wise thats byfar my opinion for that.

Oh and btw by the end of the game Ren wont be much of help, Even if he's a healer, you wont be needing one healer that died on you. and well you want to invest your time on Lindow aswell since his skill is top notch.

ok. lets go step by step.

1st. personality. main roster first. i like GER more than RB. in GER, each character interact with each other more. you can see sakuya and lindow flirting, alisa and kouta 'lover like' talking, shio and soma interaction, lindow as a big brother to soma, sakuya as a big sis to alisa, and so on.
in RB, its all about JULIAS from the beginning to the end.
side roster, i actually like RB more. each character has their own character episode which you can explore which you can learn about each character detail more. even side character has cutscene. even a cappybarra(RB) has more character development than eric(GER).

2nd. Fighting AI. well, at first glance, it is the same but its actually not. while RB has more function, im not talking about that. In RB, many character are new-type user and in their ai, if they have full oracle, they will start shooting nonstop.
example. lindow(since you like lindow) has very powerful melee but he keep shooting with his gun(happen in both GER and RB) which deal very small damage. especially early game, you are stick with those newtype in RB early game. i have to wait until reintroducing Soma and the defend team that i like the combat back.
as skill wise(default character skill), GER has more 'master of their trade' while RB has more "jack of all trade". example, soma. in GER, soma is pure tank. with very high HP and DEF and Auto Regen and hate up. in RB, soma loss Hate up and slightly lower defends limit. while RB soma has higher support skill like healing field(actually they make it so he is more friendly in the story which make sense), i loss my main tank. and other character in RB just cant tank that well. i mean, sole tower user first gen are soma and brendan(brendan are more ATK but even RB he is falling to support) while the new gen user in RB keep switching to gun form and they cant even block due to in gun form. they have to remove Annette and Federico due to too much new-gen god eater.

3rd. design. up to preference, but i like GER character design more than their RB counter part. example. lindow. in GER, he wear dark brown jacket. and his cursed form has the badass dark red black god arc. now, he wear WHITE and has his cool arc COVER IN GOLD!!! EVEN THE ARM!!! i know it symbolism he is not at reckless as he is in GER and that he is a father so he has to tone down. but still..... though i do like the new alisa rather than the old one.

4. character quirk. just one thing. Emil. thus hands down GERB is the winner of this category(you know when you meet him).

Emil is a bad carbon copy of Erik/Masked Ogre. He's one of the most annoying characters in the series and lacks any coolness of the original character he's based on. I think I feel so negatively about many of the chracters in RB is due to how they basically ported the old ones into new bodies with worse voice actors and personality. I've noticed people (myself included) like Gilbert very much. He's as unique as we are getting in terms of an avatar. He does Soma very well w/o being a tryhard, lone wolf. Everyone else is some sort of anime archtype or GE clone we've already seen.GER has Shio which was the best catgirl you could get w/o going full stereotype. I know it's your opinion, but GE1 did it first and did it best. Perhaps I would have felt differently if I played RB first, but I usually never play sequels before the source material.

i say quirk. meaning it wasnt say it was bad or good. but the most you want to face palm. which feels much more nicer when you can punch him in the face AT HIS REQUEST!!! yeah he was a clone of eric but i much hate shun. Erik is better compare to emil. also, shio a catgirl archetype?

Your statment back sounded more like what a jackass would say than what he said. just saying.

On point now, GER has a better story, GE2RB is kinda lacking in that, but this genre of games are not really known for having amazing stories, we are all here to grind for better gear and kill ♥♥♥♥.

true, GER has better MAIN story. i love shio playful and lindow arc. more feel the point where lindow is missing(well, is easy to guess he is alive) and shio is leaving, the feel is so much. even saving lindow means i have to trade ren for it . however, i got to give SIDE story to GE2RB.
for Rage burst, originally the feel is there when romeo die and julias leaving the team but then they just have to be back at the end of the story. GIVE ME BACK MY 'FEEL'
as i have mention, GER too focus on main story thus only the main few character are develop properly. the other character like the defends team are very.... limited.... GE2BR focus a lot more on side character expecially on hte character story. heck, i was very enjoying myself doing kirigumi and emil (so i can punch him) character story to learn more about them.
towards the end, i give the winner to GE2RB. the reason is GER last arc on shio shadow was just.... bad.... and short. GER is like only 3 arc. while GE2RB has 2 huge arc(which can break to smaller arc), 1 small arc, extra story mission.
