First Ouroboros Fight Advice?

I... may be doing something horrendously wrong... but I am hoping for some advice!

I decided to run the first mission the Director gives you solo, because story reasons. ...And I keep dying. Repeatedly. I ran it roughly 4 times before I threw in the towel for a break.

The first time I managed to make it run off to try eating. I think.

The next 3 times I was unable too. Given I can only respawn 3 times, I am having a lot of trouble with it.

I've been using a divine-damaging spear (pulling roughly 600 damage when hitting it's legs) and a sniper with a custom divine bullet of my own likely lame design (that's roughly 400 to 500 damage when hitting it's face, and virtually none anywhere else).

I haven't been making use of my shield, instead just trying to just avoid getting hit, given the shield controls are really awkward to me.

I've been trying to shoot it's face as much as possible, and then when I can no longer do that, I charge with the spear for a bit, utilize my air devour (which increases my oracle generation) and quickly just hit the legs before running away and firing at it's face again.

...I routinely get killed, more commonly when I'm up close. For most of the ranged(ish) attacks, the spikes popping from under you, the charging and the laser, I can seem to mostly avoid them if I am paying enough attention.

I... am seriously hoping for some advice. ...And I refuse to just put a group together of who the game WILL let me bring.

Any and all advice will frankly be welcome, given I can't advance in the story until I complete this mission, and it's driving me nuts and giving me a headache.

If it's of any real import, I do not have a ton of experience playing games of this nature. I have never played Monster Hunter or a God Eater game before.

personally, the easiest way to deal with uroboros family in GER is by using crush type bullet to his legs. It's a little bit risky tho, so you might want to throw stun grenade before spamming the bullets.

I used a divine Short Sword, I think the Gem Sword, and just focused on darting in, hitting the legs a few times, and darting out. You really want to stay behind the legs, under the dirt-skirt. In my experience, it became pretty apparent when it was going to use attacks that could hit behind it and just dodged out. Dash-jump-dash is a good way to cover a lot of ground fast. I still died 3 times and was out of restore pills by the time I killed it, though. Only a handful of mistakes from death.

In my case I equipped myself the divine short sword and used a assault gun I think its type 55 auto then spammed my way using rapid fire bullets in the face of the ouroboros since I got frugal every time I burst I'm like a sentry making bullets rain like hell and its pretty easy for me but the challenge is devouring while its enraged its pretty easy to monitor its reaction if you observe it pretty well aside from that no incapacitated but took the mission 15 minutes to beat also it solo no ai or players aside myself

I killed it on my first time altrough it did knocked me down alot(and Canon lol)
I mainly used the Divine bomb ammo and used a spear for reach while attacking its legs most of the time(lock on in this game sucks...) while bursting my AI teammates.

Wich brings me also to the best tactic(for me) and that is, take ONLY ranged attackers with u, since its the most effective(unlike melee).

It might take a long time(i had 6 min left on the timer...) but u will get it down.
Ofc if u are good with the bullet editor(i suck at it) then make some special ammo for the encounter and take any ranged weapon exept a Shotgun with u as well as a good shield.

Aha! I managed to do it! With... 3 minutes and 39 seconds left to go.

I was using a Rank 5 spear and rank 5 gun.. .so... no high level gear.

...Just the desire to do things according to story purposes.

If you were using a buster blade.. it could have been as simple as stepping in and out and slashing at it's legs. That aragami is big, but it's one of the stupidest ones there in the game.

And I really do advise you to learn using shields, the 'step' move is just movement and there is no invincible frames. You will get slaughtered if you don't learn to guard in the later missions.

I managed to take this thing out first try. I found that using a Scythe and sticking to the sweep and special sweep does a nice amount of damage I don't think I've ever tried using any type of gun on this one so I don't know how those do. Also, try sticking towards one side from the middle of its body so you don't get constantly trampled. Oh, and make sure to guard if it's doing something suspicious.
