Not really. The protagonist on the game & anime is different character . in GE2, he/she is listed as Yu Kannagi, not Lenka

I see the characters threw me off thought it may have been a follow up or somthing like other games,

so you think it's best to play resurection first then? :0

If only you wanna follow the story. the database has the base rundown of events if u want to read about it.

I personally played the resurrection 1st to watch the story unfold.

Ultimately its up to you.

The question should have been: Does the anime follow the game's story? The reason being that the anime was based on the game and not the other way around.

The anime took a lot of liberties with the story. It only covers about the first 2/3 of the original game (and doesn't cover the expansion at all), adds in a subplot, and skips over a major plot point.

The anime is a very grimdark take on the franchise. The games are much more lighthearted in comparison. I know a lot of people didn't like the anime for the liberties it took, personally I think it compliments the games.

I really recommend starting with Resurrection. Not only will the story and characters make more sense later in GE2, but Resurrection also does a better job of introducing new game systems at a steady pace. GE2 on the other assumes you've played GE1 and gives you all those systems right from the start, then introduces more.

yeah I've played a little now and everone seems happy XD
then you look at the anime and families have been eaten,
so far I think the anime did a better job of giving the world a feeling of horror and how brutal things have gotten, saying that though I'm not far in so maybe more of that to come

Thanks for the input everyone BTW seems like a great community behind this :D
