Anyway to recompress the video

I don't mind giving it a try but not sure how to convert the SFD format (I think its a sofdec format). I dont need these cutscenes so HD and a 2'ish gb game with 16gb's of video seems crazy heh. I wish they offered a super low quality video clip option.

Softdec is a container format; the videos are just MPEG-2. Try ffmpeg.

No wonder the compression is so crap.

Wow, it's totally retro! I get that it isn't practical to use realtime cutscenes at this juncture but a better codec surely isn't unreasonable.

I do wonder if I can replace any of them with .1 second long dummy files to save space and auto skip the less interesting cutscenes.

I saw someone here a while back talking about a tool they'd created to compress Nier Automata videos and was curious about adapting it for Vanquish, sorry I can't be more specific. I'll do a quick search.
