Is Vanguish worth buying
I was looking for a new title to play for when I finish Red Dead Redemption. I do have limited funds though so I'm trying to decide whether this title is worth a purchase now or if I should just wait until Donkey Kong Country Returns launches later in the year and purchase that as I'm a long time fan of Donkey Kong.

I mean it is an amazing game, However the story is short and unless your planning on beating your own and other peoples scores over and over chances are your gonna be done with this game in like 10-20 hours.
It depends on what you want out of your shooters.

If you want that Gears style cover based shooting, you can probably play this on causal and have a decent time.

If you want a technical shooter with fast paced action similar to Doom, then you'll love this game.

It depends on your expectations and the fact how you go into it.

Did you play bayonetta, mgr or Nier Automata lastly and expect a platinum game like Metal Gear Rising with guns - like i did? Then i would sadly say, no it isn't worth buying.

Do you want to play a third Person Shooter with Sliding and Bullettime Mechanics?
In this cas, yeah go for it.

You what?
How do you even compare them in the first place?
This game has a far to fragile character as to even use the mechanics on offer for the most time! If you died in two hits in Doom i could see it in the slightest sens, but like the game is, no that doesn't even come close to what i played of it Yesterday.

I mean... It's a very fast paced and technical shooter on par with other Platinum games even if it's a TPS at its core. You're just a newcomer so of course you're having a hard time, the game is supposed to be hard to play and master to begin with. If you grab Doom for the first time you'll also feel it sluggish at first and you'll die a lot of times before you finish your first playthrough.

If you watch videos of people who mastered the game you'll quickly notice just how much mastery in mechanics and controls this game requires to play it "well". Every P* game is like that. I would probably put anyone to sleep if I show them my first MGR playthrough.

The point of the movement is to avoid the bullets that why you have Bullet Time :')
If you can't do that... Well then maybe you should either play it on easy or play something else entirly....

Yes you die in 2 hits.... so avoid getting hit AKA use your mechanics to avoid getting hit in the 1st place.

More like 6 hours to be honest.

Eh either way it is short so unless your planning on replaying it, Or have money to throw away I would say wait for a sale or something.

=)

Someone gets it. In all honesty though, it does look decent even if it is seven years late.

I would really love to, but the game forces me to use cover and cover is not fun at all to me.
Besides i expected a platinum game and this feels nothing like i thought it would feel.
Clunky movement, slow speed, if i don't use the slide or the AR mode this game plays like any other 0815 cover shooter, maybe my expectations were to high, but boy was yesterdays 2,2 hrs a let down for me.

Don't give me the "you're just bad" copout answer, you know how platinum games usually play and if you don't this is a waste of time for both of us.

I don't have many Platinum games certainly not on Steam... Bayonetta felt kinda lack luster other then the cutscenes to me.

And you don't have to actually take cover just standing behind something should do the trick.
I already have had multiple levels were I had 0% cover.

Other then that I think the game feels and play's amazing plus there is quite a few interesting missions out there if you ask me. Looking forward to actually completing it.

Cover can be used, but is mostly useless and in many cases it seems like it was added as a joke. Like it actually puts you in danger most of the time later on. You actually lose a lot of points from taking cover too.

You are meant to be mainly dodging. The best way to do this is tap the boost button the same time as the roll button. This makes it feel much closer to something like Bayonetta. You just oftentimes have to flank enemies instead of rushing directly into them is all.

I do think the game is very overrated but try messing around with the mechanics a bit more, there is nothing else really like this game out there.
