HDR/LOD?
So what do these do?

LOD effect the detail at which objects are rendered at a distance. Have that off or you will experience pop in just like on console. HDR....not so sure on that. I know for a fact it isn't what we are expecting HDR to be in this day and age. In Vanquish's case it's a lighting setting like bloom. Can some one clarify me on that one?

Watching tb's port report and he said either one could affect the "film grain effect" in game.. not sure.

TotalBiscuit seems to think some effects are bundled in these settings like film grain but who knows.

LOD has nothing to do with filmgrain. As for HDR, here's a brief explenation of what it is in Vanquish's case from Wikipedia:

"High-dynamic-range rendering (HDRR or HDR rendering), also known as high-dynamic-range lighting, is the rendering of computer graphics scenes by using lighting calculations done in high dynamic range (HDR). This allows preservation of details that may be lost due to limiting contrast ratios. Video games and computer-generated movies and special effects benefit from this as it creates more realistic scenes than with the more simplistic lighting models used."

So yeah, it's just a lighting setting in game.

I mean I have no idea, I won't play until tomorrow so i'm youst trying to get a feel for the ♥♥♥♥ like these settings and what will be most preferable.

as soon as he said film grain I wanted them off but he didn't go into any detail/there's no description on what they do.

How would detail change wheter they pop in or not? could you explain a bit better.

Well I guess it's a "leave on" setting atm then.

Surely your system can handle LOD off right?

Probably, I don't really understand the diff from your description though, specifically that first sentence.

LOD was covered in the DF video, turning it off removes pop in.

At 3:02 is what I'm trying to explain. Sorry for not making much sense. It's stupidly hard going by what I remember.

So turning it off means higher textures at range according to the vid, and prob what you said as well.

I still don't see how that affects pop in though since according to him there's no such, at least in the example, on the pc version.

Thanks as well, pretty sure those where the only things that's not self exp.

Not higher textures at range. Objects have more detail rendered at range, as in polygon count. The pop in is from a low poly model transitioning to a higher poly one.

Think of it as an automatic detail render distance. The further away from a sphere you are the more polygonal it becomes. The closer you are it becomes smoother. Turning LOD's off means to a certain extent the full model is rendered over a greater distance,.

all over blurry and way too much filmgrain. even blur when motion blur is off. bayonetta is so much better remastered. sorry to say but i had it way better in my memory on ps3 :(

Blurry? Uh...you sure? It's clear as all hell at 1080p. if you're going by the video then don't. Youtube's video compression doesn't do videos like DF's justice.
