Crush Crush
Another event.
I'm just going to say it. This new event is happening way to soon since the last one. I really hope this doesn't become their plan with these events. I'm still mentally burned out from the last one.

And done! This one took me a lot longer than the last one. I ended up finishing about 3 days and 16 hours after I started. Fortunately, with a six day window, I still have plenty of time before the event ended, so it wasn't down to the wire or anything. But there was still a lot of lag in the middle there, and I probably could have shaved a day off of my time if I planned better.

Like last time, I kept a record of my actions during the PE and how long it took me since I started it. I'll spoil it for length and for people who want to figure it out on their own.

And here are some general bits of advice and reflections on what I feel is the mistake I made.

Things started out great, with me hitting multiple goals in the first hour and getting a x8 speed boost bought in the first day. But I waiting until the 19th goal to buy the second x8 boost on the assumption that I should use that last set of free Beach Balls reach the 50 needed. As a result, I gilding multiple hobbies and a second job, making sure that I'd have 35 Beach Balls at the time I got the 19th goal. This was a mistake, as I was stuck on the fishing job to get Lustat's Lover level for over a day. What I should have done was gild maybe one job (marine biologist) early on for needed money, but then focused entirely on getting the 50 Beach Balls needed for the speed boost way ahead of when would have gotten the free ones. As a result, I basically had goals 19, 21, and 23 done way before 18.
Okay. I'm going to say this and I know I'm going to get people saying "I'm just complaining", but I'm saying it anyways. This event would be impossible if you didn't look up the guide. As a f2p person who will finish in 7-12 hrs once I get back home, I can confidently say it. A f2p player without a guide wouldn't finish. I'm saying this due to the insanely high requirements for Lustat Lover, and Sutra with her skill levels. If you went solely on reactions to what the girls asked, you would be screwed. I'm confident in that. With those skill levels requiring literal hours for a level at that point in the event as my evidence. Which meant gilding them isn't optional.

thats how it is
The events needs a certain lvl of knowladge about the game and the event
Having that makes it possible to make the choices you need to if you dont want to spend diamonds
Once you played it a few times, if you are observant enough or willing to think, you will have a gist of what you might need to check once you go into event. My first and second event was a total wreck, but at least, I now know there are some clues to observe. The rewards page will usually give some info on which hobbies or job we might need to reach. Second, would be in most event, player will need to get all the hobbies to at least lv53 (iirc). However, the rest would require player to make a guess. That is where luck comes to play if playing without a guide.
Finished with 2 whole days to spare, 0 diamonds spent and no guide used. Only real bottleneck was the fishing job ranks for Lustat lover and Kira lover. I screwed up and forgot to have easygoing on overnight once, so I had to wait a while for florist, maybe that would've gotten me to my boosts faster.
I started about half an hour when the event started, and I completed it just a couple of hours ago. It did help that I had two days free on Thursday and Friday, worked all day on Saturday and Sunday, no work today. Given the longer than usual event time, I decided to not throw diamonds on here, and it was satisfactory. It was doable with a good amount of leeway. I did mess up a bit along the way, selecting the wrong hobby when planning, setting me back a couple hours or so. Lustat's final requirements took up the largest bulk of time, and it oddly worked out since I happened to be going to work those two days. And the fishing job took a lot of time too. But I only had Kira left, so close to Lover level, a bunch of beach balls left...TIME SKIP IT ALL!

Got a feeling I would not have finished it if I had worked another two days around this time, therefore forcing me to buy event premium currency to get an immediate x8 boost.
Meh, yet another one I cannot complete. I think I'll just ignore these things from now on.

are you low on time or are you unable to complete do to the requirements?
I just wished they lasted a full week when the events came around, for people with a busier schedule. Really annoying to be stuck on the last thing just happening to be a job, something you can't guild to make it go faster. Particularly since there's no way of knowing what's required unless you look it up, which is dumb.

Ya, using a guide is mandatory for clears these events. if you dont know what jobs to focus on youre screwed, especially since a lot of times they want you to focus on one of the worst possible jobs you can, one that you would normally ignore since it sucks.

I think this is one of the things that they're just plain doing wrong. I ran into this problem on the current PE and it cost me over a day of pure waiting. If I hadn't been free to monitor the game efficiently before and after the wait, I think I might have failed.

IIRC this happened twice during the current event, actually. One was really bad and one was frustrating.

This is the sort of thing I've talked about previously, where the player feels like they were HELPED to make a mistake. It comes off as trickery/trapping and it makes the player angry, instead of what SHOULD be happening during a special event, which is getting players excited and engaged and happy to spend both during the event and during the main game.

I have the feeling there's a lot of residue for players who can't finish, and it carries all the way back to the main game. That can't be a good thing for the devs. Trading short-term wins for long-term losses is always a terrible idea.

No argument, but so many companies don't seem to get this. Recent history is full of companies prioritizing short term gains at long term costs, Cyberpunk comes to mind. You'd think companies would learn, but it's a hard lesson apparently.

I think the main reason why I get surprised in this particular case is that I've had a number of interactions with the pandas that make it clear they're good people, not to mention that I've read Morgan Long's blog and she's just a really wholesome person. I truly don't believe they run the company the way some of the results of these PEs make it feel.

I think it's tough to do F2P while being a good person, because you do need to drive people to the in-game shop. I forgive mistakes if the dev tries to do better, and I think they did both last time and, maybe to a slightly lesser extent, this time. Even this time was an improvement overall vs earlier PEs, with the generous time limit and lower number of difficult bottlenecks. I think I only counted three or four really troublesome bottlenecks, and the only real issue there was that two were the kind that make you feel a little resentful because they were job-based and there's simply no way to accelerate jobs aside from super-costly time skips that are limited in just how much they can do. On the other hand, I finished F2P despite them and with almost two days lost to illness.

I think there's always going to be a risk that some players will simply not be used to the game enough to finish. I would hope that's the case only when they feel it's because they didn't know the game well enough. In some cases it might just be someone who maybe isn't great at math in their head and will always struggle with stuff like this. I think that's just a condition that an event like this will never be able to accommodate, so maybe it's a hint that there's an issue inherent with the MO of the event.

I just think the main game does monetization better. I don't normally spend money on the PEs, largely because I don't like them, but I'm okay rewarding the pandas back in the main game.

I know that pain
May i Ask how you spend your diamonds thou?
Cause if you are gonna spend diamonds the Best thing to do is get Max speed boost right away since that cuts the time you need down a lot
