What does Gilding do?
So next month I'm gonna get some diamond, get a speed boost or two, and then soft reset with diamonds but I was wondering what does Gilding a hobby actually do?

It adds a permanent speed boost to a hobby.

Does it stack with the speed boost from the item shop? And what activities does the item shop speed boost effect?

Yes, it does.

The shop speed boost stacks multiplicatively with everything.

If you buy the 64x shop boost and already have a 100x reset bonus, you'll have a total of a 6400x speed increase. If you later gild hobbies, that would apply an additional 16x on top of the two other effects.

Don't bother with a soft reset with diamonds, or (not that you mentioned them) time blocks. The only shop purchases you really need are two x64 boosts and a single x2 boost, this will give you the maximum secondary speed boost. Once you've capped the diamond speed boost, then it might be worth applying the gild effect to hobbies for that extra speed, but only after capping because, as it costs 10 diamonds per hobby, those same 120 diamonds could buy a global x64 increase.

So you can get the shop speed boost without resetting? Capitol! xD

Yep. Your standard speed bonus grows as you reset (or if you pay diamonds to gain it without resetting... which is a bit of a waste unless you really want to regularly spend money on the game). The secondary speed boost is applied the moment you purchase it, there's no need to reset to gain that bonus; your hobbies and jobs will immediately increase in speed.

Yay! Then I can just stack speed boosts and avoid resetting altogether.

You need to reset. Why you afraid to do so?
First of all - later girl will require for you to have reset bonus. IIRC you will need to have at leaset 1200 of it.

Second - each reset speed up your game. And this allow you to reach same point where you was before reset faster.
Best strategy is to reset game every ~5 minutes, this will net you ~20 reset bonus per hour. But it's really boring)
Balanced way between speed and comfort if to reset twice per day.

Well, you will need to reset at some point, even if you max out your speed boosts in the shop, unless you constantly spend money on the game by using diamonds for the "gain reset bonus without resetting" purchase -- this, again, is not recommended, as it becomes easier and easier to complete the girls as things speed up. Either way, it's an incremental game, and the basic design is that the player restarts a multitude of times before finishing.

since you prettymuch want to level every hobby equally~. It's best to just focus on buying the speedbonuses for now. Don't Gild hobbys ever!... Gilding a job is ok~ though, but speedbonus (which affects everything) always takes priority

Yep, unfortunately I thought the diamond-bought speed boosts just raised your reset bonus by 2, 8, 64 and didn't see the value in it... wish I'd have known it multiplied the speed so dramatically before I gilded all 12 hobbies... ah well, live & learn... still, the 16X boost to all the hobbies did make the game easier :)

Shoot

I should've gotten the 64x speed boost. Live and learn, I suppose. ;-;
