No sound
For some reason, the sound won't work. I tried running the compatibility troubleshooter, verified the files, and reset my computer, but the sound won't play for some reason. Can anyone give me any pointers?

I solved it a while back. Try going to the Steam app's settings, go to voice, and select Detect Audio Devices. It sounds crazy, but, unless it was a massive coincidence, that actually fixed it.

If you would show the exact menu path to try the solutions, it would help me greatly. It seems that has been moved or I am just thick. I am not to proud to admit to the latter.

It's in the settings of Steam itself. Click Steam in the top-right corner, select settings, and go from there.

I'm not sure if this helps or not - looks like voice settings have been moved to the "Gear" on the friends list.

Check this link to set the output device for Steam :

I solved my problem with the sound. It was an third party program that was nixing sound in this game and a couple others. "Sonic Studio" by Asus was suggested as the culprit. As it has been uncooperative with certain games (example; unity games) and when I removed it, I did not even have to reboot the pc for the sound to return.
