Campaigns on the Danube is great, seems so simple when you first get into it but it's not and its very reasonably priced. If you get this one pay attention to your supply and supply lines, really close attention. One of those "easy to learn, tough to master" games.
Hope this helps.
BUT... I am not sure that it will function on a Steam installation of WON. Read this thread at Ageod's forums for the issues with it:
http://www.ageod-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=375&t=50119
If you can install WON separately from Steam then install the game, update it through the menu option to update and then install the 1.03 beta and you'll be good to go. I don't play WON through Steam. Good luck and hope you like it.
I can confirm it´s possible to install the 1.3 beta patch under steam, and the game looks more stable with it.
Cheers
Hi how you did it? If is possible I will purchase it via Steam
You did not ask me but WON is the only one that captures the grand strategic and operational level of the whole conflict 1805-1815.
You dont get to fight tactical battles but you do get full access to plan your OOBs and give operational level orders before battle.
But you need to play PBEM and 1 vs 1 using house-rules built around the scripted events for historically plausible results and timelines.
I think Russia can be a third playable faction with some house-rules, very difficult but rewarding.
WON is also fun and has some features that are not unrealistic but add to the replayability, like choosing National Modifiers.
If you are interested in the period this game has a huge immersion factor when played against a human opponent.
England owning/controlling Austria and Prussia weakens France a lot. Russia yes, but not these 2. Beating these 2 again and again was what made the French victories possible.
PBEM of 5 player is great fun, because such dictatorial control over allies is not possible, i have been a small part of 2 such games playing Prussia and Russia.
Usually France is the best player and the rest get Spain, England, Russia. Prussia & Austria are controlled by same player.
