Linux Unity Bug Workaround

[Haunted Adventurer]

This game has the Linux Unity bug. It was unplayable and caused havoc to my system until I manually set the game’s screen resolution. To set the resolution in the prefs file, go to (with view hidden files):

~/.config/unity3d/Invisible Collective/Battlesloths

Edit the following lines in the prefs file:

<pref name="Screenmanager Is Fullscreen mode" type="int">1</pref> ! 0 is windowed
<pref name="Screenmanager Resolution Height" type="int">1080</pref> ! screen height
<pref name="Screenmanager Resolution Width" type="int">2560</pref> ! screen width
<pref name="UnitySelectMonitor" type="int">0</pref>


Save the file and set it to read only so that the game will not reset the values. Have fun! (This fix applies to version 1.3134. If the Linux build of the game gets patched, set the prefs file back to read and write so that it will update.)

and could you tell me a bit about your setup? The OS, computer, monitors and such.

Thanks for responding. The video settings were making the game full screen in a resolution that made the in-game cursor huge. I could not even tab out of the game and had to use CTRL-ALT-Backspace to logout.

My hardware and settings are:
CPU Brand: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700K CPU @ 4.20GHz
Operating System Version: Linux Mint 18.3 Sylvia (64 bit)
Kernel Version: 4.15.0-33-generic
Graphics: NVIDIA Corporation GeForce GTX 1070 Driver Version: NVIDIA 396.54
Primary Display Resolution: 2560 x 1080
Monitor: LG Electronics ULTRAWIDE (DP-2)

I could probably reproduce the log, but I'd have to set up my system to get borked again. Let me know if this would help matters. Thanks for your time.

Thank you! Whenever I would launch the game it the window would be a weird size and it eventually did something weird and crashed my X server. So I tried your changes and it loads normally now!

This fix also works with some other Unity games, I remember doing this on Chaos Reborn when I would get a black screen and it fixed that too.
