That, and the fact that it's unfortunately only a mediocre-quality PC port of a console game that had already been out for 8 years prior. The sequel had already been out for about 2 months before this one even showed up on Steam. You can nearly count on one hand the amount of times this game has ever passed 500 players online simultaneously.

I personally only play halo wars for the campaign story anyway I don't like playing online. I find it too fast paced and that units die too quickly. Its all about rushing and never getting to build the later tech tiers. I have always been attracted to RTS but I am so bad at them. My favorites were the Old Dawn of war franchise and Battle for middle earth. I really want battle for middle earth to become available as a digital purchase anywhere such as origin I don't care what store I have to use id pay 60 dollars right now for BFME II and its expansion.

the only prob with rushing is it can be very anti fun the new halo wars its harder to rush

Well, you might try the xbox version. I got the Ultimate Edition of HW2 on amazon for $12, and that comes with the Definitive Edition of HW1, plus all the dlc except AtN. Only real problem is it's on console (#PCmasterrace)
Also, I'm pretty sure you can play cross platform with people on PC. (You can play the game on PC, but it requires Windows 10)

I know a site where you can download all three Battle for Middle Earth games for free, its perfectly safe and what not. Add me if you're interested, not sure what steams rules are regarding posting links to sites. I still use my disks, but know countless people that play using this version.

If you're interested and want to give it a go, I'd suggest giving some mods a look, i.e Edain.

Update to this, you cant play on PC if you buy a physical copy. Play Anywhere is only supported on the digital download.
