To anyone looking to mod halo wars

Hello everyone,

I have noticed a lot of talk about modifying the game and me being a fellow modder and all I thought I would help you guys out with where to start modding. The following tools are not created by me and the guide I am about to link you to is not created by me either. I am only trying to help the community out in modding. So without further ado, here are the links:

How to use uwpdumper (or at least a more basic understanding of it):
1. download from links above
2. extract zip to your favorite place
3. build the exe (if you downloaded 32 bit version) or run the exe (if you got the 64 bit version)
4. (now this step is very important so make sure you follow it to the letter):
when the window pops up, make sure you have your task manager running and on the following tab: details. Also please make sure you have the game running. Once both are running (its advised to keep halo wars in windowed mode for this step) bring up task manager and scroll down in the details window for this exe: xgameFinal.exe, next to it should be a 4 digit number, this is your processid for the current running process. enter that number into uwp dumper and hit enter, follow the instructions in the prompt and bam, your thing is now fully dumped. Now to find it.

It does when you can actually access all the files easily compared to a UWP app.

Well you do have a strong point there, in this particular case with the Windows Store DRM nonsense it is a vast improvement for modding to get a steam release, but in general being on steam is no guarantee of easy modding for other games.

Just decided for fun to try if you could simply use the PhxGui.exe straight away skipping the uwpdumper steps, since you guys speculated that you wouldn't need it anymore on steam, and at least when I tried dragging and dropping (after setting the output folders for extraction and new builds) both the game exe and root.era, and nothing happened, no error messages, only a black circle with a black line running across it is visible when attempting to drag-n-drop.
So uwpdumper probably does something necessary still that you need to do before extracting the packed files could works.

But then when i tried going to the location where It says that uwp dumper dumps the files it doesnt do so
