Mounted Combat in Allods?
Greetings!
I know that this game has ship-to-ship battles (at least if u can manage to get together a crew of real live players, if there are enough players around :D )

But besides that, I am beginning to notice something very interesting in this game (interesting to ME, at least :D ), a.k.a it appears that some mounts can be used for combat purposes? Is it true?

I don't care for mounts in PVP etcatera.
But in PVE, can I use some mounts to hunt mobs and do quests and so on?

Thank you for any answers and replies.
Cheers :)

Hey Krelian,

In the open world, mounts can be used in or out of combat. Allods provides all manner of wonderful mounts - monsters, beasts, and mechanical creations of all kinds. Each mount is unique in its own way, from total health and regeneration, to movement speed and abilities - and can also be given additional perks, such as bursts of speed on demand and temporary stealth.

Almost every mount has its own signiature abilities, though only a handful of mounts can safely be called 'combat mounts', such as 'Rumble', 'Lightning Bolt', 'Monolith' Power Armor, and a few others. You can check trailers for all three via our YouTube channel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WB2Iw2C9ixM

Mounts have their own healthbars, thus for an enemy player or an NPC to dismount an unwilling player in any environment that does not force dismount in combat, they must deplete the mounts health or use a special rocket launcher to do this in one shot. They are also used for in-game 'races' that take part in various areas.

In raid/dungeon PvE content, you are instantly dismounted when entering combat.

Hope this helps,
Rope

@Ropedrink
Thank you for the quick and informative reply :)
I have just a few questions.

1-The Lightning Bolt seems like an AWESOME mount and I believe its part of the collector's edition pack for Allods 7.0 here on steam.
But MUST I have a second player with me in order to use its weapon? Or can I use the weapon even when im driving my combat mount on my own? (If I can use it for combat on my own, the Collector's Pack is a sure purchase heheh).

2-When you say; ''In PvE (allods/dungeons specifically) you are instantly dismounted when entering combat'' ..
You mean that combat mounts are automatically dismounted when doing dungeons and ''endgame raids'' and such, BUT ON ''REGULAR PLAY'' (levelling up, doing random quests and hunting regular mobs/monsters) we are not dismounted, right?
Or,
do you mean that somehow mounted combat is only limited/ONLY AVAILABLE to PVP (and we cannot use mounted combat in PVE at all?).

3-If I am to play Allods (if im sure there is ''mounted combat'' for me :D ) than I intend to purchase the collector's edition and IF POSSIBLE; subscribe to the game (monthly subscription).
But if I have a monthly subscription, there STILL ARE combat mounts in the game in the pay-to-play version, right? They are not LIMITED to the free-to-play version, I presume?

Apologies for my long-winded questions. I just wanna make sure before I shell out the cash :P
Thank you again :)

Hey again,

Please note that the Collector's Edition does not include the Lightning Bolt mount (incorrect, see here: http://allods.my.com/en/ce_p2p) -- as well as a unique colour pattern. Almost all mounts have varied colours and skins that can be earned via events, or are unlocked if you happen to add the exact same mount to your stable more than once -- in that case, you do not get two mounts, you get a colour variation for that same mount. This means you preserve the mounts experience and feed levels, and can swap between your colour/skin at any time.

Regarding Lightning Bolt, you do not need an extra player to use it -- it simply allows an additional player to tag along for the ride.

You mean that combat mounts are automatically dismounted when doing dungeons and ''endgame raids'' and such, BUT ON ''REGULAR PLAY'' (levelling up, doing random quests and hunting regular mobs/monsters) we are not dismounted, right?

Correct! You will only be dismounted in certain areas (such as entering indoor locations), if a player or enemy NPC damages your mount too much, or if you decide to dismount.

I must stress that this doesn't necessarily mean you can effectively kill or hunt enemies using mounts (at least non-combat orientated mounts) - they simply come with unique abilities. They do not perform auto-attacks or damage outside of this, unless designed to do so (such as Lightning Bolt's laser cannon), Rumbles PvP centric abilities, or Power Armor.

Most of the abilities that come with mounts can be used to control or displace enemies, but not actually damage them. For example, the Forest Bear can swipe enemies with its claw to knock them away several meters - but given this has a CD, you cannot use it as a reliable source of damage output. Mounts, at the end of the day, are travel companions of convenience, though given we live in a world where magic & technology are a way of life, there are some that are designed specifically for war - but these are very, very rare in comparison.

Regarding P2P, the boutique is 100% disabled. You will not be able to purchase specific mounts or costumes etc. These can be acquired via quests, dungeons and raids, which means all players can achieve the same power // have the same opportunities.

On F2P, the boutique is unlocked and players can buy whatever they desire, including certain mounts, costumes, and other goodies.

Thank you again for the reply :)
But there is one thing that confuses me now :D

-''Please note that the Collector's Edition does not include the Lightning Bolt mount -- it provides a coupon that can be used to purchase it at a discount, as well as a unique colour pattern.''

-''Regarding P2P, the boutique is 100% disabled.''

Does this mean that if I purchase the collector's edition, and pay for a subscription to play on the pay-to-play server, than I won't be able to make use of the collector's edition's Lightning Bolt coupon (since there is no in-game butique)?
I mean, if I am a subscriber and own the Collector's Edition, will I still be able to use the Lightning Bolt coupon form the C.E ?

Cheers :)

Hey again Krelian,

Actually, you are right. P2P Subscribers get a Lightning Bolt direct from the package.

You can check the details right here:
http://allods.my.com/en/ce_p2p

However, as described in the article, it is a NON-COMBAT version. Instead of removal (my assumption, due to LB having combat-advantage) a compromise was made instead to keep it fair and still provide the mount to subscribers. Remember that P2P represents the balanced server, thus players having a combat mount would have an advantage over those who do not - we have no intention of letting this happen.

On the other hand, the CE is sent to all existing (and newly created) characters on your entire account, meaning that if you decide to head to F2P for any reason in the future, you will still have the coupon for the F2P version of Lightning Bolt.

I must re-stress that even on F2P, mounted combat is not as prevailant as ground PvP, Astral PvP, or regular PvE. It happens in some capacity, but most mounts are not designed for PvE purposes outside of unique abilities and combat (health/speed/regen) statistics. They can tank, distract, displace, or even damage enemies, but not in a player competitive manner. I am certain you will still enjoy exploring all the mounts and their capabilities, especially those with combat potential, but we have no intention of misleading you into believing that mounted combat is a selling point of the game.

For additional perspective, you should consider visiting our official forums and asking any mount-related questions you like, to get answers from fellow players' and actual owners of specific mounts. There is also a P2P specific forum where you can meet fellow subscribers and find guilds and groups for various activities along the way - be sure to stop by!

Hey Oneman, if you create a support ticket and provide enough information to prove you were the owner of the account in question, you may get all your characters and belonging back. Give it a try!

Regards,
Ropey
