what changed is there no longer a limit to what classes we can pick can we have infinite character slots
The Aoidos (ἀοιδός) added in patch 8.0 is a classical greek singer that would write poetry from epic battles then turn them into songs of folklore to be passed down in history. You cannot create an Aoidos unless you have Incarnated, also you must delete your Incarnation of that race before you can have another.
You can have 8 character slots per server and every character can have 10 reincarnations. The most common thing is to have 1 main character w/ reincarnations while the other 7 serve as mules.
Unlike games like World of Warcraft where alt-characters are common, Allods has the "reincarnation system", which greatly devalues having 'alts'. Once you have levelled a character of choice to maximum and undergone a trial, you can 'reincarnate', which involves making a brand new character that is tied directly to your main character and gains a portion of their power. You gain cross-ability sharing, share the exact same boutique bag (basically all the goodies you've purchased or been gifted can now be used on your "Progenitor" and "Incarnations"), the same bank & inventory slots, same unlocked costumes, same mounts, same runes etc - they can be any existing race/class combination you choose (provided it's the same faction as your main "Progenitor").
Race wise, you now have the Priden & Aoidoi, two neutral factions. Aoidoi are directly tied to the story of the previous villians, the Architects, and are made through "Reincarnation". The Priden, on the other hand, can be made from the start and have their own neutral levelling zone away from everyone else.
There have been no real changes to the class/race combinations themselves.
8.0.1 has since released more content, more overall improvements, a new server (which currently has a huge boost event for fast levelling and free gifts), and loads of other stuff.
