First go to your Steamworks App Admin panel. I'm not a developer so I don't know where this is, but given the panel has other things that are absolutely necessary for publishing a game on Steam, I KNOW they already know what it is and where to find it. If they didn't, the game wouldn't be on Steam. Under "Application", select "Steam Cloud". From here you should be able to configure Steam AutoCloud, which is the easiest method of cloud saving, and the one the vast majority of developers use*.
Add a root path, just one though. Enter the following parameters to each respective box:
Root
WinAppDataLocalLow
Subdirectory
AckkStudios/YIIK_ A Postmodern RPG
Pattern
*.txt
OS
Windows
Recursive
False
For Mac, add a Root Override and enter the appropriate parameters for it. Root overrides will ensure the saves are transferred between Windows and Mac instead of keeping them separate. I can't be screwed to type them out so I trust you know what you're doing. It's extremely self-explanatory. You seem to like Mac so much anyhow, surely you know where your own game puts its saves on the platform.
After this - you are done. It's that simple. You've immediately added a very important feature to the game that's been direly missing for almost six years. Pat yourselves on the back, I'm sure typing in those boxes was a tough fight.
It takes one person, and zero lines of code. You have direct instructions here. There is no longer any ambiguity as to the process. It could not be simpler. Please God just do this one simple task, it's all I ask of you.
*The other method is the Steam Cloud API, which is more complicated and largely unnecessary. It allows developers to have more complex cloud behaviors, but that's not needed for a game with such a simple save system like YIIK. AutoCloud is a much simpler system whereby the game checks the given directories for files when the game closes, and if found, uploads them to the cloud. YIIK's cloud saves don't need to be more complicated than this, hence why I'm recommending it.
My one hope is maybe because I.V launched so close to Christmas the developers were all off doing Christmas stuff pretty soon after the update dropped? Still, with how easy it is it still wouldn't have been a lot of work, even during Christmas time. Still, it's my best guess.
At least for now Warpinator and other such file transfer stuff exists, but it's still not perfect, ESPECIALLY with Linux requiring a deep dive through the Proton compatibility folders to find the appropriate files. Should've made that Linux port you promised 5-6 years ago Ackk, just saying...
