How to unlock 2nd ending?

You needed to have joined along with the other Dark Alex's to fuse with Proto-Alex. It's not a very long ending so if you don't have a save I can explain to you what happens.

I genuinely believe the "proto-alex" end isnt a proper ending but more an easteregg joke similar to yoko taros "endings" in nier autotomato. kinda thing. I think the second ending is tied to newgame plus and "clearing" the mind dungeon. You need to be level 50 by the end of the first playthrough which would mean two-fold that it is "impossible" to get the proper good ending until playthrough 2. My theory and im currently working on rushing through on newgame plus is if you are level 100 by the end of the game you can and will defeat the bosses.

this makes sense atleast to me , you are fighting a losing battle in the first playthrough or "reality"

I don't think you're right Venom, are you talking about the comet ending? I think this one is a joke.

Uncle Death, I defeated the very last boss but it wouldn't die, its HP were at 1.


I think the real ending is behind the HKK building where the dude at the entrance says "I can't let you inside except if it's the end of world!" , but I don't know how to reach this area when there is the end of the world.

I don't believe it has to do with defeating the Comet boss. His HP doesn't seem to be able to be reduced past 1 (though I can't remember if I tried Banish at that point. . . .). I managed to do several big attacks when his life bar was that low, so it seems like it's just one of those fights you can't win. The devs implied on Twitter when I brought up NG+ that it wouldn't be required.

I did not, however, make it into the building OxY mentioned, and I notice there's an achievement for that.

ive also tried switching spots with alex at ending a (before newgame+) same scene triggers... UGH this is like a thorn in my mind... i gotta see this cause apparently both endings are Canon

it feels like it involves a question, and im sure its prob a red herring but the crow in the dungeon mentioning going to floor 30 then coming back to floor 15, but how would you do that in a single playthrough...unless...

Antoids I'm not talking about the comet last boss, I'm talking about the ESSENTIA+ALEX last boss, the one that kills your entire party in two turns.

Did anyone tried to answer "NO" when Alex's asking for the player's help? (when Alex is inside the TV screen)

The Proto-Alex ending isn't considered one of the two "real" endings. Seeing as the game has just released, I wouldn't want to just blatantly say how to achieve the second ending, but for now, I will say, pay close attention to ONISM 1999 website. Read everything on it for some more clues as to how to achieve the other ending.

Alright, well, I'll put spoilers just to be safe:

During the final stretches of the game, instead of driving into the city for the new year, look behind the tree in Alex's front yard to find someone. From there, go to your computer, read the special email, and you'll be able to leave out the backdoor of the house this time, giving you access to the van again, and allowing you to to go to the KNN building.
