Target Priorities!
It is really sickening how all the towers are too dumb to fire at what they're supposed to. Like I have 4 mage towers and all of them shoot mummies instead of Sand Wraiths.

That is part of the challenge of the game. You need to use your hero, cool down abilities and barracks' rally points to split off specific enemies so they don't become a problem. The target selection of the towers is predictable and always the same: the enemy furthest along the path and within range of the tower will be targeted. The game would be incredibly easy if you could select a target or the towers always targeted the most troubling monsters first. It's as much about building the right towers as it is about funnelling the monsters into them with the correct timing.

yeah crappy game mechanics make the game more challenging.
Tman Sep 22, 2016 @ 12:34am
Just use Mirage and clear out all the riff raff. Then only the tough ones will be standing & the towers won't get confused.
Nero Sep 22, 2016 @ 6:15pm
I finished the previous game on hard. I know how to play it. The lack of this feature really sucks. A simple prioritizing for arrow and mage towers to go after enemies with ranged weapons would already do.

What you both suggest is more of a work around. Like when you can't turn left just turn 3 times right.

Its a bit of a pity. There are things that Bloons 5 does much better and then there's things that KR does better... if only the two had a baby.
Osiris Sep 22, 2016 @ 6:51pm
I understand what you're saying, but the point of KR is that you use micromanagement to pick off the correct enemies while you also have to keep an eye on your macro strategy; not sit back and let the towers do everything for you.

It's just a different way of challenging you that you can like or dislike equally. But if such target prioritisation were introduced to KR, the game would need a rebalance and I doubt it would be fun anymore because you would get rid of the micromanagement aspect that makes it unique and challenging in a different way to other games in the genre.

If you don't like that multi-tasking aspect of the game, then maybe it's just not for you. I think most players actually think that is the best part of the game, though. Different strokes for different folks.
MoraedoN Sep 23, 2016 @ 1:03am
I don't understand how this become a problem.
KR series is never push their player to the limit. Yes there are few stages demand you to do a micromanage your tower and your unit but the rest of them are pretty casual even on Hard / veteran difficulty.

You know this is remind me of an episode of sequelitis about Castlevania when Arin said:
"for some people this jump is unacceptable BTLRBLRBLRBLRLBRHRBHR" it really fits your description.
Everybody's a critic. I won't say you're wrong, you're just whiny that's all

lol what is there not to understand. For some like me it feels wrong that ranged towers attack the wrong enemies. For others it does not for some reason.

it feels wrong. Like playing a shooter and not being able to reload your gun, instead having to burn through your entire clip to automatically reload. Like playing a car driving game without a reverse gear forcing you to turn around.

Target priorities are a standard in many TD games. In Kingdom Rush you can tell your ground troops what to attack (sort of) but ranged towers just waste all their shots. They should always prioritize flying enemies and those that have a ranged attack because thats what they're good for.

if you disagree with that then fine thats your case. Its a subjective thing really.

Yes but this is the steam forums. Any criticism will be met with an endless barrage of L2Ps and GITGUDs. Its all they seem to know on here...

Its a good game, but I completely agree that tower targeting can be frustrating.

"Kill the healer! For the love of God, don't shoot the regenerating mooks, just KILL THE DAMNED HEALER aaaand they got through." :squirtmeh:

I mean, I can kind of understand it's absence since this was originally a mobile game, but Jesus it's frustrating to lose something that could have been won if you just at least set some automated priorities.

You could also win those situations if you do a better job of separating the healer from the rest of the enemies by dumping reinforcements on it, using rain of fire on it, letting your hero fight it, or switching the rally point of your barracks to engage with it.

The player has plenty of resources at their disposal to win the game, but it seems a lot of players don't understand how to use them or simply refuse to change how they play the game because "I should be able to play KR just like any other tower defence". It is not the game's fault that people get frustrated, it's their own fault because they refuse to adapt.

So what response do you expect? Yeah I feel you? I totally get you? I agree with you?
It's not like a major bug nor a fatal glitch. KR still easy even with auto targeting

How to stop sand wraith, healer, and others annoying enemies? Move your heroes! Is that too much to ask?
we have:
1. Alric, who can mano a mano most of the enemies. And summon 3 fast expendable minions
2. Mirage, who somewhat tanky with her evasion. Also a realiable one hit kill
3. Cronan, with his boars and his almost guaranteed one line stun magic
4. Cap blackthrone, with his strong stats and kraken bind
5. Nivus, that can teleport, chain attack. disintegrate and quick cast area magic
6. Diedre, a teleport support, who can tank quite well and heal your army and reinforce
7. Grawl (my fave), who best at choke point, has large area stun and range area attack, not to mention he's really tanky. Slow? well don't move him. He can stall dozens of endless enemies just by standing still
8. Sha'tra, who can abduct enemies with 1000 hp and his normal so high and stable so he can kill caster very quick
9. Ashbite, who can even devour a Saurian brute. if it fails, his attack are so strong and so wide you can put him at choke point

Not to mention the upcoming heroes
What? Still to hard? Try build 80% of your tower disposal as crossbow fort and spam barrage, fill the rest with barrack or necromancer or something
Still can't do it? Follow the video walkthrough, step by step

You see... there are tons and I really mean tons of way to deal the annoying enemies (and im not even mention the blacksurge yet)
So really, if you still complain about auto targeting. I would say you're a whiny
No im not said you're wrong, Im just said you're whiny and I won't agree with you

In before "LOL WAI SO ZERIOUS SON LOLZOLZOL"

The towers are already Op enough. If there is target priority then the game is too easy(it is currently too easy). On top of that we have heroes(some of them are op like Alric) which just make the game even easier.

uhm ya know an intelligent being would think about making the game harder when a new feature is going to make it too easy. I know that sounds hard to grasp but really.

Moraedon I am already doing all that stuff and it hardly works on casual difficulty. I have then started to grind for more stars by doing iron on all the beginner stages. The harder stages then became well doable.

This is on casual difficulty http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198046747192/screenshots/?appid=458710

All used towers are maxed out with those star skills. Its absurd tbh.

And then people like you complain that the game is too hard. Ps. even 5 years old could make a better defence than you can.

uhm no I beat that stage after trying 3 - 4 more times. I complain that it frustrates rather than being fun that I lose because my towers are dumb. its not the difficulty its the gamepülay that makes me complain. But ofc you can't grasp that either.
