Bow angles different in dojo vs courtyard ("low bow" bug)
Intro
This has been an annoyance in the game for me ever since I reached the courtyard for the first time ages ago. At the time I assumed it would be fixed soon so didn't report it, but coming back to the game after a bit of a hiatus it's just re-emphasised this as a problem for me.

I have done a bit of browsing here on the steam forums and on reddit and have seen various people complaining that the bow aim is off or "low", but not too much detail. I believe I can explain a bit more what appears to be going on, and how to repro.

Explanation
To put it simply, the bow veers the arrows off in different directions depending on whether you're in the dojo or the courtyard. The dojo definitely feels more natural and the bow behaves as you believe it to, but when in the courtyard it "snaps" back "downwards" by about 10-20 degrees when you loose an arrow, causing the arrow to have a lower arc also.

I put the word "downwards" in quotes because it's not actually a gravity issue, it's a bow issue. The same effect can be observed if you hold the bow horizontal or even upside down.
I tend to play with a horiztal bow stance as I find it more natural, and this bug is much more evident when playing like this.

Reproducing

Dojo

1. Load the dojo scene and pick up the bow in your left hand
2. Hold the bow horizontal at eye level and draw back an arrow
3. Find a unique spot you can aim at
4. Loose the arrow
5. Observe a fairly natural path for the arrow
6. Draw another arrow
7. Focus your eyes on the wall point
8. Align the bow/arrow such that your "right eye image" of the arrow is in the center of your vision
9. Loose the arrow
10. Observe how the arrow lands almost exactly aligned with where your right eye saw it to be on the bow

Courtyard
1. Repeat dojo steps 1-3 in the courtyard
2. Ensure your left hand is at a natural and relaxed angle
3. Loose the arrow
4. Notice how the bow adjusts by about 10-20 degrees anti-clockwise
5. Observe how the arrow veered off to the left
6. Repeat dojo steps 8-9 - align your right eye image
7. Observe how the arrow does not fire in a straight line as it did in the dojo
8. Draw another arrow and align your "left eye image" in a similar fashion as before
9. Loose the arrow
10. Observe how the path of the arrow seems improved, yet still not perfect

Conclusion

I have reinstalled and rebooted multiple times to try and fix this, so am pretty sure it's a bug. Having seen many other reports of this on various forums supports this.

I hope that this 'bug report' and repro steps are helpful and not too over the top, please do contact me if you need more help reproducing this or have any more questions!

Thanks,

Benji

edit: fix a couple of unclear sentences
edit: remove duplicate step

Good demonstration. I've noticed the need to twist my left hand that is holding the bow towards myself, too. Didn't realize this was a bug.

I reached level 30 yesterday for the first time, and one of the first things I noticed is my aim was suddenly off. I figured I was just getting tired. I now understand I was experiencing this game crippling bug

Sadly, this wasn't always a bug. I made it all the way to max level previously and then after the winter update I can't clear ever level 30 because of this, and any attempts at the raid are hopeless for me because of this bug. Very frustrating as Holopoint used to be my top recommendation, now I don't recommend it to any of my friends getting into vr.

I'm having the same issue too, except with the way I typically hold the bow, the arrow tends to veer left. I just recently came back to holopoint to try and get more exercise after spending a lot of time in other VR games and this is definitely worse than it was before.

It's especially noticable if you regularly start at wave 1 and work your way up (I find the early waves to be a nice, well paced warm up for the later stuff). As soon as I hit wave 30, my aim goes to crap. I even tested it by taking the time to line up a straight shot at the trunk of the potted tree in the courtyard, looking straight down the arrow, and the shot flies to the left of the trunk every time. I really hope the devs are still paying attention and address this soon. Wave 30+ is practically unplayable like this.

I'm on the dev build, incidentally, I'll have to try reverting to the release build and see if that works better.

Update: Nope. Both the dev build and the release build have the same problem.

Thank you for the feedback. This is an interesting issue and is on our list. It may be a little while because things are rather busy at the moment, but we do aim to solve these issues when we can. The community effort definitely helps.

Hey, great to hear back! Understandable that you're busy, but glad to hear you've added it to the list. Let me know if I can help out in any way.

Haha what the hell.
That is exactly what I am experiencing right now! I thought I'm stupid or something.
I just reached the courtyard yesterday for the first time and I couldn’t hit anything. The aiming and shooting felt weird. But I’m just having exactly the same problem you have.
That is unfortunate, as it seems there is no fix for it yet (and most probably there won’t be any).

Cheers

Edit: And the funny thing is, this is a rather rare problem as only 0.9% of the players reach the courtyard. :-D

Yeah, unfortunately the developer broke the game in the final update then walked away. I wish they would just roll the game back to the update before last. While I was really looking forward to that update, I would rather have a playable game than a cool update.

is this issue rly still here? I would have bought the new game if the dev didn't leave this simple fixable bug in here for years.

I just bought the game due to all the recommendations but the game is simply abandoned and left with bugs for years.
