How do I scan bots and ships?

Hi! I just finished the game, but i'm sitting at 0 scans for every kind of bot and I don't know how to scan them and the ships... it is something from the Polar expansion?

Oh damn. I never used the damn binoculars, I always scouted with my scoped sniper rifle.

Well, I have all the Polar Expansion to grind these ones I guess! :)
