Dead Rising 2: Off the Record

Dead Rising 2: Off the Record

Incredibly Slow?
I have a pretty good computer, and I can handle Dead Rising 2 just fine. But even on the lowest settings, even with a 800x600 resolution, this game is just ridiculously slow whenever zombies are on screen. Without zombies it's fine, but whenever they show up it slows to a crawl. Could this possibly be an error? If so, does anyone have any suggestions for fixing it? If not, is there any way to lower my settings even further? I just want to play this game.

I have the same problem and my computer's specs are better than the recommended requirements. It's not even on par with the minimum, but goes beoynd and yet it runs terribly. I have tried so many ways to improve it but it runs the at the same speed with no difference no matter what settings I fiddle with in options.

I did a bit of research, apparently it's because, unlike in DR2, in DR2:OR the depth of field is always set to it's highest setting, and can not be altered. Unfortunate. Hopefully it will be patched or a fix will be discovered or something.

Thanks, I doubt they will patch it, it has been out for so long already and that hasn't happened.

since it's a console port, the game needs more CPU than GPU power (well known fact).I repeat: your CPU needs to be good to archive good FPS (don't expect miracles tho,it still remains a port)

Same problem here. I have 8 GB RAM, Intel i7 2670QM Quadcore processor, nvidia GeForce GT 555M + Intel HD Graphics. Still can't figure out what's the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ problem.

This is unplayable. I can run Shadow of Mordor just fine, but not this.

This needed to be patched a LONG time ago. Just to walk around you have to move your camera down to make less zombies pop up.

I was able to play this on my old system that had an Nvidia 9500 GT 512 VRAM so... I dunno... it should run on just about anything made in the last five or so years assuming you have a dedicated video card.

Definitely CPU, i7 3930 six core here with 2 gtx 680's in sli. anyway to minimize this issue? it only drop to 40 fps at the lowest but still, i enjoy silky smooth gameplay on 5 yr old games. Its playable put always annoys me. i know my issue is petty but still has anyone found a fix to boost
frame rate definitely in the outside areas?

That doesn't sound right. I have an i7 3770K and a single GTX 680, and I'm running it at 1920x1200 maxed with anti-aliasing and vsync on at 60 FPS, even in outside areas. Have you tried disabling SLI?

This was my mistake, for whatever reason i had pre rendered frames enabled. Its a shame this game was meant for 30fps, the cutscenes seem strange. well at least with vsync off.

Turn off Blur. Best option ever. Game runs smooth now. :D
