Possible error with unlocking the Chuck Greene outfit?
I installed both games on the same hard drive and made a fair bit of progress into DR2 before starting OTR yet I don't have the Chuck Greene outfit unlocked. Do I have to have a save file of DR2 with a completed story line or what?

Doesn't seem like you need a completed DR2 save file to get the jacket according to this video at least:

Haven't been able to unlock Chuck's outfit in Off the Record either despite having a DR2 save file with the new Steamworks version. No problem getting it to work with the retail GFWL disc version though so it should be possible with PC version at least. OTR seems to be having all kinds of bizarre problems at the moment though after this new patch so hopefully this might also be fixed soon.

Well if Blue Castle can't get the save detection working, they better just make it scan your steam library for DR2 or just unlock it for everyone. Then again, they didn't even include Frank's DR1 outfit in OTR even though it exists in Case West so I'm not expecting any support for the costumes.

It's for the best: Frank looks REALLY bad in Chuck's outfit. Might I suggest the white leisure suit instead?

I don't care, I bought the complete pack and I want what I paid for. Besides, Frank looking so bad in that outfit when I played a console version made me laugh.

anyone know if there is a way around this? I just got both games and I don't have the Chuck Greene outfit either
Nope, never did figure out a way either. Could be related to the other glitches in the game like not being able to get the Proto Man outfit any more but I suspect it's something like the game looking in the wrong folder for your DR2 save file. Before the Steamworks patch all you had to do was to create this folder path:
Documents/My Games/Dead Rising 2/saves/"Your Gamertag Here"

where the gamertag was your GFWL (or Xbox) tag name. Then you place any random DR2 save file you downloaded from the Internet and it just worked. My guess now is that after the patch the game either looks in the wrong folder (maybe even in the Steam cloud)(since save file locations have been moved), is not finding a matching Gamertag (since Steam IDs are completely different and are made up of two different numbers and a shifiting user name), does not recognize either old or new DR2 save files since those were changed too slightly with the Steamworks transistion, or even all of the above.

Now if any or all of the things I mentioned are actually the case then you could possibly find the answer by placing both old and new DR2 save files in folders named after all variations of your Steam ID (or hell, maybe even your Xbox gamertag?) in every possible location the game might be looking for it. If you do, then please share your findings. Of course, the feature could just be completely busted like a lot of other things are ATM. Then your only choice is to wait for a new patch that I promise will NEVER come.

I can't even find the save file location for DR2 lol
I saw it on "My Games"but there is literally no save file (same doesn't go for OTR where there are save files) which is a bummer because I was looking forward ro having coop and seeing Chuck in Frank's Outfit
Now the only way to get it would be to mod it lol but I'm not sure if there is a such mod D:
Uhm, surprising even myself I have actually just made that mod I think. It turns out it was relatively simple. Well, simple when you hack something together from others work. In this case the thanks should go to user Freako of http://deadrising2mods.proboards.com/ (he's apparently an Internet artist).

You don't even need to own the original Dead Rising 2 for this to work.
So to use this you just need to open the folder

...\SteamApps\common\Dead Rising 2 Off the Record\data\

BACKUP THE "datafile.big" FILE THAT'S THERE. Just in case something goes wrong since I haven't tested this at all really.
Then download this:
http://a.pomf.hummingbird.moe/eiwtnp.zip

unzip it and place the new "datafile.big" where you found the old one. Done! Simple as that.

It's not perfect though and won't spawn the clothes in the Safehouse clothes locker like usual. Instead, check the crates underneath the staircase by the safehouse exit (just by the vents).

Report back if it works or doesn't work. I don't know.

funny thing is that's what I did lol
Hopefully this mod helps others who can't unlock the outfit for the time being
You made your own mod as well? How'd you go about it? Can you share it?
Steve Harvey Oct 29, 2015 @ 12:28pm
oh I didn't make it I just found it (on deadrising2mods) right after I posted that comment 9 hours ago lol
Oh man, somebody already made one? Oh well :steamhappy:
I guess I learnt a little in the process at least.

yeah lol it's seems like it's the only way right now to use that outfit

Doesn't work on PC anymore. The save detection for the jacket was meant to look for Games For Windows Live saves, now that Steam saves are in a different format altogether, it won't work. You'll need a modified 'datafile.big' to get it.
