Attempting Co-op with a friend help (2024)
Me and a friend recently picked up dr2: otr and been attempting to load in the game together. we've dug through multiple discussion boards to figure it out, but haven't the luck. one solution we kept coming across was this:

1. Host go into their game
2. Player 2 sends an invite to host
3. Host sends invite to player 2
4. Host views the invite (Do you want to join this game etc.)
5. While host is viewing the invite, Player 2 accepts Hosts invite
6. Host waits a few seconds, then closes down invite.
Now the host should get a "Player wants to join the game". Just accept and it should work.

we tried on fresh saves up to the first actual save in the safe house, both being in our own games to send the invites and having the other as the actual host, trying it in the sandbox mode, even just sitting and letting the game try and find it itself through the menu. being a 15+ yr old game, i can understand that the online features tend to die. but if any one has broader answers or solutions we would appreciate it and for future folks looking into it as well.

(anything that requires downloading files or software from offsites is gonna be a pass, I've accidentally killed a computer trying to run Kayne and Lych)

I was watching a streamer play this with a friend (jfj + Skeleben) few weeks back n with it on sale wanted to drag my buddy into it. went back to the vod of their stream to see how they did it, n they were able to connect normally after several attempts. Im curious if theres an issue with some hosts or something. were not too far from each other so we shouldnt have some kind of regional issue

Please follow the steps from this Dead Rising® 2.

Basically from Step 1 to Step 3 even tho the guide it's for TIR (Terror is Reality) this workaround still worked for complete the Story Co-Op session for the achievements while there was a few times where the player who joined the match lagged a bit, But nothing serious like random disconnects or anything of the sorts.

I haven't played yet Co-Op in OTR so can't tell if there's a difference on issues related to Co-Op from DR2. But please do try the steps and i believe it wouldn't be that long when either of you create & ready up the match and wait for the other to join after a few attempts.

Hope that helps and good luck enjoying of this DR classic!
