Crashing when I try to run the game

So I played this for about three hours last night and didn't have any issues at all.
In my effort to get the controller working I stopped and started the game quite a few times and it ran without fail or issue.
I go to play today and it crashes on startup.
No error message, no loading, just the game window opening for a moment and then closing before anything but a black screen shows up.
Any suggestions?

same here, played for 20 hours fine then suddenly game went crazy on me

I managed to get the startup crash fixed and everything went pretty smoothly for awhile but then upon completing case 7-4 I hit what is apparently a fairly common glitch where the loading screen becomes perpetual.
None of the suggested fixes worked for me so I had to abandon the game. :/

I launched the game some time ago on my old monitor (2560x1440), never really played the game. Now I wanted to play the game, but like you my game opened up a black window for a second and then closed. I changed monitors between then and now (2560x1440 -> 2560x1080).

Going to Documents\My Games\Dead Rising 2 Off The Record\rendersettings.ini and changing the resolution to the resolution of my monitor fixed it.
