Corrupted Options Save Detected PLEASE HELP
SO i just got the game and when im go to turn the settings down and exit it has to save the game. but it gives me this error and tells me to delete the save. PROBLEM IS I have zero save files in the My Games folder. Infact only a few of my 100 games are even there. wtf? How can i delete what isnt there? I can go to the steam app data common folders and find dead rising 2 and all that but your save files arent held there. I've tried reinstalling it but no luck. WHAT DO I DO ): I can't save the game and I can't save my settings.

Few tips:

-Saves can be found here:
Documents\My Games\Dead Rising 2 Off The Record

-If you suspect a file from your download is corrupt, you can verify your game cache through Steam.

-Make sure to run Steam with admin rights.

-Install the game to your main drive

-This player has a fix but it may or may not work for yourself:

Heres the issue im having, that may be related to the crashing. I dont think the save file is corrupted because the game wont MAKE a save file. Documents\My Games\ Theres only 4 folders fallout3 falloutnv Terraria and oblivion. which is kinda strange since i have over 100 steam games. Dead rising is not anywhere on that list. is there any way to FORCE it to place files there? Maybe somehow the directory im looking for is elsewhere? i've tried manually searching for saves but didnt find any for the game it's self. not even in the common folder of steamapps. I cant really get a refund because i was already 2 hours in when i discovered this so im really hoping you can help.

I solved this issue in my nephew's pc renaming the user folder account. I'm brazillian and the name of account was "usuário" the character "á" is not recognized by the game, and the save file isn't created. I created another user with admin privileges, renamed the folder removing the "á" character and changed the registry as follows:

Open the Windows Registry editor with the shortcut Windows-r, then regedit and the enter key.

Navigate to the following Registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

You find several S-1-5-xx folders in there. You need to click on each folder until you find the the ProfileImagePath folder with the data set to the profile path of the old username, e.g. c:\Users\Martin.

After this, I restarted Steam and the game saved just fine.
