Custom Character Unlock w/o Campaign?

I have been poking around the notion of save files online but keep hitting dead ends, kinda bought this game under the notion that I might be able to play a customized character in the capaign with a friend rather than the default ugly mugs.

Has anyone found a solution? I know its not exactly... kosher,

You can use a custom character after you beat the game.
And save files are tied down to GFWL accounts, so good luck trying to get that worked out.

Yeah dude. Just finish it once and you can play as anyone you like.

yea just beat it and the credits are over u can enable character u want. Dont forget to earn points to play slot for items gestures and upgrades

i cant seem to get an online match though will anyone play co-op with me:( i really miss this game and wanna go back to the old days again, is mp dead because i need co-op to get the character customization i want :'(

I know I'm a little late to this, but complete the campaign. It's totally worth it to play as the Lego guy and everyone takes you seriously anyways.

managed to complete it, though i'd like to play through campaign on hard though my fear is dieing alot, if anyone would be up for it i am ^^ cheers
