Lost Planet 2

Lost Planet 2

Endless update loop. *fix'd*
So I've just got this and decided to play. After spending an hour trying to update it I'm coming here to whine to you all in hopes to find the issue or maybe someone with uploaded patch files I can just drag and drop.
Basically every time I start it prompts me to manually type in my name and password ignoring my option to automatically log in; afterwhich it downloads my profile and prompts me to download an update which runs after closing and seems to do nothing.
So I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling GFWL multiple times from www.xbox.com
I've tried disabling UAC, reinstalling, running gfwl before starting, changing my system locale to America, running as administrator, running the installer from C:\Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Microsoft\XLive\Updates\43430808
I am honestly at a loss here and would accept any help because every time I start and see "v1.000" I die a little inside.

If your at the point where you're entering login information to GFWL inside of LP2, don't re-install anything.

If you have the sit & spin circle, there's likely a dialog box behind the game that needs to be OK'd. I believe this is a Windows Firewall permission dialog box for GFWL. Try Alt-F4'ing LP2 and OK it.

You can also try adding the GFWL exes to your Windows Firewall list.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE\Client\GFWLClient.exe

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE\Client\GFWLive.exe

You will also want to see LP2 in the allowed Windows Firewall list:

GFWL and LP2 has been let through the firewall already.
The issue is after downloading the update; closing LP2 and it installs what ever the game doesn't actually update. The only thing I can think of at the moment is it's not installing the update to the right folder.

So, yeah. Upon clearing my SSD on C: drive of 15gb the game the patch successfully installs. Unbelievable.

We're you actually running out of space on your C drive?

The fixes for the point you were at get tricky. There's actually quite a few things to try. It's not the same for everyone. 6 people will report what looks like the same problem. A fix is provided and it works for 3, the other 3, no luck.

No. I installed LP2 on my HDD which is a different drive originally. I'm guessing the beautiful program that is GFWL cannot handle a game being on anything but the Master drive.

Actually, my Steam games are on my D drive and GFWL is on C. It's been rough with the GFWL and LP2 installation. A fix that works for some, doesn't help others. Even when they look like they're having the same issue.

Good news is, once you're over the GFWL hurdle, you're home free. Except for a few of course...

Yes.

Just got this game working after 3 days and 10 or so guides, ended up figuring out a process that works. I found that at some point a .net update broke GFWL update ability. Uninstalling .net and installing an older version closer to what was available for that game at the time worked perfectly for me.

I ended up using a combination of work arounds to get it to finally update.

firstl backi up the game using steam back up.

Then uninstal the game completely.

Once LP2 is uninstalled, uninstal all GFWL,Silverlight, and newer .net framwork client.

then restarted after everything is uninstalled.

Once done restarting recover LP2 using the back up copy.

before starting the game instal GFWL using the file located in the LP2 folder . restart again here.

After rebooting again, start LP2, It pops up with the windows firewall which i allowed for both public and private networks.

I logged into GFWL which gave me an error initially but after signing in again it updated.

at this point it was the same as before go thru the update prompts.

after you exit the game will update windows live, once thats updated restart and relaunch LP2

at that point it should catch the title update and it should update the game to the new version.

I restarted again at this point....

Its alot of restarting but it does work its a damn stuipd issue with .net, I'm going to be systematically working my way thru updates and figuing out which one is breaking GFWL.

Whoa, brother, this is from 7 years ago. I don't think anyone can actually answer that. Wouldn't even be surprised if it's directly because of GFWL being dead.
