is this game game pad only? it starts (gets to main menu wth music and rain) but i can't seem to start the game or goto any options screen?

Anyone else really struggle to pull that of in a reliable way? It seems really tight and they deal so much damage that its not really worth it. I reslove to just doged and use the axe over and over. Its the long but safe way. Also there are alot of them in some sections. To dispatch them all with parry in a row seems impossible. The big skelletons are way easier to deal with....

I do not claim to be very good at video games in general and I am certainly not a very good Slain player but the negative reviews this game has got is simply ridiculous. It is hard but not unfair and neither is it bad game design. You just need to have the patience to learn the patterns and get reasonably good at parrying.
