Crash on startup

Anyone else got this problem? I get past the window for selecting language, then it all crashes. Im guessing that is because i try to run it on my Laptop with Win8 (64-bit).

Anyone got any good fixes for the problem?

Yeah, I have the very same problem. I asked Steam to help but they said its not their fault and we should consult with the developper (Capcom). I am surprised no-one else is responding to your post, did no one else buy this game? Or worse, is it actually working for anyone else?

Same problem, sadly. Also on Win8, 64bit.
I tried everything that was suggested elsewhere (namely, manually installing everything in the "redist" folder) - didn't do anything

Running fine on Windows 8.1 x64 here.. Maybe try disabling UAC? That's the only thing that I know that I've done that is different to the default.

It did crash on startup for me until I rebooted the computer, but you're on a laptop so I'm assuming you shut down completely everytime?

no, I usually select hibernate. And whats UAC, if you dont mind expanding on that.

ahh.. you should reboot completely every now and again.. i think it's the physx version that is installed with this game requires a full reboot.

(U)ser (A)ccount (C)ontrol is a part of windows that tries to stop you from doing silly things to your computer.. asking you to approve installs and things like that, it can also protect system files from being overwritten, as well as tells windows where to install certain things - so it might be putting things in a path that the game can't see.. I just disable it because I feel confident enough that if I do something stupid to my pc it's my own fault and I'll sort it out again.. but it does provide some protections for many people. (I also get sick of the greyed out screen, and the beep, when UAC wants to ask if it's okay for the installer that I just ran to actually, you know, run.. :p

I do a full shut down every time i turn off my machine.
Still cant get the game to run. Could it be something with the nvidia vs amd drivers?
using nvidia here.

I'm running on Nvidia, but a fairly old 5 series card.

I'm also running Windows 8 64 bit here. It runs fine for me other than resolution switching to 1080 P seems to crash the game. And I'm using a Geforce 660 Ti 3GB.

ya there is a nvidia phisics download some where on this fourm that fixes the start up problem

Go into the game steamapps\common\Darkvoid\redst go inside the redst folder and reinstall
both physX files. run program as admin. turn vsync off if crashing.
