Dark Void

Dark Void

Crashing on Stage 1 Chapter 2
Right after the soldier is killed by the robot and they pick up weapons. They have Boulders fall down blocking their path, then BLAM! GAME Crashes Something aboout Sky something or other..

Is this another Phys-X related issue? So sick of this software, I bet it is, because it worked fine and then I installed Phys-X in another games package..

I had the same problem untill I ran it in xp service pack 2 compatability mode. I'm running windows 7.
Do I do that within steam or the actual file under steam/common?

Been a while since I played it, but when I had a 8800 GTS 640 MB SLI system I remember having to limit the framerate in order to get pass that section.

Limit the framerate to 30 fps from the in game menu and you should pass that section.

I'm having the same issue, keep getting run time error for "shipping-PC skygame.exe". I tried you're solution and no luck. I was glad to see that they fixed the DRM thing but not there's another problem.

Mine just crashed at this spot. And I was just thinking this was a good port with the sharp graphics and smooth frame rate. Not anymore. LOL
Solved: There is a link either on the Capcom official site or here on Steam buried in the forums, cant remember where but its for an older version of Phys X.

So..
yes to play through this game you will have to use an older driver then update it if you plan on playing anything else as it will effect alot of newer games running the old Phys X.
Source: Myself personal experience.

(Its a Phys-x issue. And it pisses me off they havent included the old drivers in the newer updates...what kind of support is that? )

Gotta run with the wifey. As soon as I get back Ill hunt down the link that worked for me.

If its a phys-x issue then they could have avoided all of this by making the phys-x part optional during the install. I have a ATI card and I was thinking it was stupid to force me to install it when I can't use it without slowing down my whole computer.

The error is called "ShippingPC-Skygame.exe has stopped working."

Doing a Google search reveals this to be a Phys-X related issue. Poor programming who knows? But it is indeed Phys-X related.

Go to your control Panel and right click on "Nvidea Phys-X
and select repair.

Restart the game, enjoy.
Im still working on finding the exact older phys-x driver that will also fix it. but try that first.

I wasn't disagreeing with you. I was saying that it was stupid for them to make physx mandatory in the install instead of optional. People like me who have ATI cards have no benefit in using phys-x unless we use the cpu to do the processing.

Got cha.
but yeah, heres another link that might help with the issue.

As for AMD..IDK ?
Im sorry wish I could help, I researched and all I found was either use it on medium or disable it because its cpu intensive, and only if you have an intel processor. IDK what happens if the whole rig is team red?..

Thank you very much, that worked for me! :tipheal:

I can confirm too. Set the 30 fps lock and restart the game, otherwise not apply it. No crashing that point after that. Though feel slugish on 30 fps and you have to wait the next checkpoint, which isn't happen often.

In Chapter 4 the game crashed again, after I switched off thr 30 fps lock. But, I turn on adaptive V-sync on nVidia Control Panel and it works! Didn't try in-game V-sync. Note: I using Fast Sync globally.
Also, couldn't hurt isntalling the PhysX Legacy Driver and the newst of course: http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.13.0604-legacy-driver.html
