Who's a stronger character?
This topic I'm sure someone has brought up before but....

Who's stronger?
Nero or Dante?

I've noticed Nero's streak seems weaker or less effective than Dante's stinger.
Is it just my imagination...or does Nero have less attack power than Dante.
Does he?

Which character is easier to S rank with? In your opinion.

Lucky for you I went through a S rank super run. Got everything under Dante must Die, perfected.

Answer: Dante. It's not really about raw power or speed, it's simply about ease of access. Being able to switch styles is amazing and if style-switching wouldn't be in the game Dante would have similar roadblocks. In DMC3, choosing a style also meant dedicating yourself to it and that made the difficulty.

Also, Nero has only two weapons and while they have lots of attacks, they're still limited. The Revolver's charge shot will never be the equal of the shotgun and the pistols Honeycomb attack is devastating at all ranges. The only good thing about the revolver is the max charge, the explosive one.

With all of that being said I still think I get the same results with both characters. Nero is slower but has more dominating blows. The grapples are all but unblockable, deals tons of damage, restores a moderate chunk of DT and, last but not least, have unique attacks against enemy types. So let's say I fight some puppets, lizards and a Javelin armor and use the buster back to back against each one of them. Unlike spamming the basic combo I get no penalty on my style points. plus I stun them for a long time. At the end of a mission I'll still get my S rank.

But Dante gets it faster. Also the flame attacks of Nero are cool, but annoying.

ok thanks.
i just found the boss fights and certain fights took longer to chip away at them using Nero.
i was also wondering if anyone had it modded or the game broken down to where actual attack power and damage data was visible for each character's attacks.

When you replay a mission you see how much style points your attacks does. It's pretty much how much damage you deal.

Hmm... would anyone say that Nero would be potentially more powerful if his MAX-Act is used in a relatively consistent succession? Meaning, being able to constantly spam the 1-3 slot moves and charging them back up with the timed presses-would that still be considered less powerful than Dante's power?

Dante just has so much more versatility, even if you can Max every attack from Nero, that's going to be raw power that Dante could trump through sheer options.

It depends on your skill level. If most advanced technique you're using is Max-Act, then Nero is easier to play in most cases, due to his great DT, Buster and Charged shot utility. But if you include Jump Cancel, Distortion, style and weapon switching and utilise Royal Guard properly - Dante is much, much stronger.

Was Vergil stronger than Dante in DMC3?

Gameplaywise, Vergil. Most of his moves are stronger than Dante's and as a boss he can easily take big amounts of your health in one combo or kill you almost instantly in dmd-mode. Storywise they are equal in the final battle but Dante wins 'cause he "emraced his humanity" or something.

Dante has a lot of skills and his biggest one is DRI, but Nero's is more brutal and visceral. Nero has a lot of raw power, but Dante has honed his.

Dante is stronger in 4. Virgil in 3. In the new one. Virgil will take the win as well.
