Answer: Dante. It's not really about raw power or speed, it's simply about ease of access. Being able to switch styles is amazing and if style-switching wouldn't be in the game Dante would have similar roadblocks. In DMC3, choosing a style also meant dedicating yourself to it and that made the difficulty.
Also, Nero has only two weapons and while they have lots of attacks, they're still limited. The Revolver's charge shot will never be the equal of the shotgun and the pistols Honeycomb attack is devastating at all ranges. The only good thing about the revolver is the max charge, the explosive one.
With all of that being said I still think I get the same results with both characters. Nero is slower but has more dominating blows. The grapples are all but unblockable, deals tons of damage, restores a moderate chunk of DT and, last but not least, have unique attacks against enemy types. So let's say I fight some puppets, lizards and a Javelin armor and use the buster back to back against each one of them. Unlike spamming the basic combo I get no penalty on my style points. plus I stun them for a long time. At the end of a mission I'll still get my S rank.
But Dante gets it faster. Also the flame attacks of Nero are cool, but annoying.
i just found the boss fights and certain fights took longer to chip away at them using Nero.
i was also wondering if anyone had it modded or the game broken down to where actual attack power and damage data was visible for each character's attacks.
